What Worksmith does
We're an operational intelligence company. We connect the systems a business already runs, find where value is quietly leaking in contracts, vendor terms, manual processes and build the AI systems that keep it found. Our clients are growth businesses that are profitable enough to need this and too busy running the business to have built it themselves.
What you'd actually do
A mix of both functions, because at this size the line between them barely exists.
On the sales side
- Research and build target lists of businesses that fit our client profile
- Draft and send outreach email and LinkedIn under review before anything goes out
- Sit in on discovery calls and keep the CRM current, properly, every time
- Help prepare materials for second meetings once a prospect is qualified
On the marketing side
- Help write and schedule LinkedIn content for the company page
- Research competitors and adjacent players, and summarise what's actually useful
- Support whatever we're building that quarter a one-pager, a deck, a landing page brief
- Track what's working and what isn't, with actual numbers, not impressions
Who this is for
You're curious about business, not just marketing tactics
You'd rather understand why a diagnostics lab loses money than memorise a framework for writing hooks.
You can write a clean sentence
Most of what you'll do involves writing outreach, posts, summaries. If writing feels like a chore, this role will too.
You want to see the whole thing, not one slice of it
You'll touch research, outreach, content, and client-facing material in the same week. Some people find that energising. Some find it scattered. Know which one you are.
You're comfortable being told a draft isn't good enough
Everything you produce gets reviewed before it goes out. That's not a lack of trust it's how a four-person company protects its name.
What you'll actually learn
Not a generic list of transferable skills. Specifically, by the end of this internship you should be able to:
- Write cold outreach that gets replies, and explain why a message worked or didn't
- Read a company's public information and figure out whether they're a real prospect
- Sit through a real sales call and know what a good discovery question sounds like
- Build a piece of content from a blank page to something a founder is willing to publish
- Understand, concretely, how a small company decides what to spend time on and why
