Research Associate – Thermodynamics & Energy Systems

Role Overview:
CRID is seeking a Research Associate with strong fundamentals in thermodynamics and energy systems to work on applied research projects focused on industrial decarbonization, energy efficiency, and clean technology adoption.
The candidate will support technical assessments of industrial processes through thermodynamic analysis, energy balance calculations, process mapping, and evaluation of decarbonization pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyse industrial processes using thermodynamic principles
• Develop and evaluate control volume-based energy balances
• Interpret process flow diagrams and industrial process schematics
• Perform enthalpy and heat balance calculations
• Support techno-economic and energy efficiency assessments
• Prepare technical notes, reports, and research outputs
• Contribute to assessment of clean energy technologies for industrial applications
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of:
- First Law of Thermodynamics
- Second Law of Thermodynamics
- Control Volume Analysis
- Energy and Enthalpy Balance
- Heat Transfer and Thermal Systems
• Ability to understand and develop process schematics
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Good technical writing and documentation skills
Preferred Qualification:
• B.Tech/M.Tech in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Energy Engineering
- Thermal Engineering
- Related disciplines
• Candidates from IITs, IISc, NITs, and other reputed engineering institutes are encouraged to apply.
