Role Description The Reader in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a full-time, on-site academic and clinical role based at the campus in Panchkula. The role includes delivering lectures, tutorials, and clinical demonstrations in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Reader supervises clinical sessions, guides students in patient assessment, treatment planning, and surgical procedures, and ensures adherence to ethical and safety standards. Responsibilities also include curriculum development, mentoring junior faculty, supervising dissertations and research projects, and participating in academic committees and accreditation activities. The Reader is expected to engage in scholarly work, contribute to publications and conferences, and support outreach and continuing education programs in the specialty.
Qualifications
- Advanced academic and professional qualifications in Dentistry with specialization in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery or equivalent from a recognized institution).
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures, patient management, and evidence-based practice.
- Strong teaching, mentoring, and academic leadership abilities, with prior experience as faculty in a dental or medical college preferred.
- Proficiency in designing and delivering structured lectures, clinical demonstrations, and assessments aligned with regulatory and university guidelines.
- Experience in research, scholarly writing, and publication in peer-reviewed journals, with interest in ongoing academic and clinical research.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary academic and clinical teams.
- Commitment to professional ethics, student-centered learning, and continuous improvement in teaching and clinical standards.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, accreditation requirements, and quality assurance processes in dental education.
