Role Description
The Quantity Surveyor role at Symbyont Smart Spaces is a full-time, on-site position based in Hyderabad, requiring 3–4 years of relevant experience in commercial office interiors and fit-out projects. The role involves preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and budgets for office interior projects. The Quantity Surveyor will monitor project costs, track variations, update cost plans, and prepare regular cost reports to ensure effective budgetary control throughout the project lifecycle. Daily responsibilities include coordinating with project managers, site engineers, designers, contractors, and vendors; verifying site measurements; validating contractor bills and invoices; conducting rate analysis; and ensuring adherence to contractual and financial guidelines. The role also requires supporting tendering and vendor negotiations, maintaining accurate commercial documentation, managing variations and additional works, and contributing to value engineering and continuous improvement in cost management practices.
Qualifications
- 3–4 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying, preferably in commercial office interiors, interior fit-outs, turnkey projects, or commercial real estate.
- Strong expertise in BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, estimation, and measurement for office interior and fit-out projects.
- Good understanding of civil, flooring, false ceiling, partitions, painting, furniture, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other MEP-related interior works.
- Demonstrated skills in Cost Planning and Cost Management to develop project budgets, forecasts, and value engineering proposals.
- Proficiency in Cost Control and Cost Reporting to monitor expenditures, identify variances, manage variations, and provide timely financial updates.
- Hands-on experience in rate analysis, contractor billing, vendor billing, measurements, and invoice verification.
- Experience in handling variation orders, additional works, deductions, reconciliation, and final accounts.
- Ability to interpret architectural, interior, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil & MEP Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with estimating, QS, or project management software tools.
- Strong knowledge of commercial aspects of office interior and fit-out projects.
- Effective communication, negotiation, coordination, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with site and project teams.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail and documentation.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and commercial requirements in a fast-paced environment.
