Quality Manager – Footwear (Ladies & Children)
Job Title: Quality Manager
Department: Quality Assurance & Quality Control
Education: At least a graduation degree (e.g., Diploma in footwear, B.Tech., B.Sc.)
Experience Required: 10 to 15 Years (Strictly mandatory)
Specialisation: Ladies and Children Footwear
Salary: As per interview (Dependent on experience and capability)
Core Key Result Areas (KRAs)
1. Quality Assurance & Standards Implementation
· Establish and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cutting, stitching, lasting, and finishing processes specifically for ladies (heels, flats, sandals) and children footwear.
· Define and enforce critical quality parameters like bonding strength, stitching alignment, flexibility, and fitment.
· Ensure all products meet internal aesthetic guidelines and external commercial expectations.
2. Product-Specific Quality Control (Ladies & Children)
· Ladies Footwear: Oversee strict checks on heel attachment strength, component alignment, material flexibility, and wearer comfort for various heel heights and constructions.
· Children Footwear: Enforce rigorous safety testing including choke-hazard prevention (secure attachment of buttons, bows, and small parts), chemical compliance (non-toxic materials, lead-free, phthalate-free dyes), and ergonomic sole flexibility for growing feet.
3. Raw Material & Vendor Quality Management
· Implement inbound inspection standards for leather, synthetic materials, soles, adhesives, and hardware.
· Conduct regular audits of vendor facilities to ensure consistency in component quality.
· Reduce raw material rejection rates through proactive vendor feedback and corrective action plans.
4. Process Improvement & Defect Reduction
· Monitor and analyze daily rejection and rework data at all stages of production.
· Drive root cause analysis (RCA) for recurrent defects and implement permanent corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
· Minimize factory second-grade generation and final inspection failures to meet company targets.
5. Laboratory Testing & Compliance
· Oversee the internal testing lab and coordinate with third-party testing agencies (like SGS, Intertek, or TUV) for physical and chemical compliance certifications.
· Ensure successful completion of customer inspections and regulatory factory audits.
6. Team Leadership & Training
· Manage, mentor, and evaluate the performance of QC supervisors and line inspectors.
· Conduct regular training sessions for production workers and QC staff on handling delicate materials, finishing techniques, and safety standards.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Final inspection pass rate (Target: >98%)
· Reduction in customer returns due to quality defects (Target: <0.5%)
· Percentage reduction in factory rework and rejection costs
· Timely closure of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) within agreed timelines
· 100% compliance with children's footwear safety standards (Zero tolerance for sharp edges or loose parts)
