Job details:
Senior QA Engineer
Team: Healthcare EHR product engineering · Work model: WFO ( 5 days )· Level: Senior individual contributor · Focus: test automation and AI-augmented quality
Role summary
A senior QA engineer who builds automated test suites, embeds quality in an AI-augmented (AI-PDLC) delivery model, and drives the move from manual to automated testing for a healthcare EHR platform.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain automated test suites (for example Playwright) integrated into CI/CD.
- Convert manual regression into reliable automated coverage on the critical paths.
- Embed in a squad: help write and refine acceptance criteria during the working session, and start testing as soon as the first build is ready.
- Use AI to generate tests, then validate that output rigorously — catching false positives and coverage gaps.
- Test AI-backed product features: design evaluation checks for non-deterministic behavior, including scenarios exercised from outside the code under test.
- Manage test data, including compliant synthetic data for a regulated (HIPAA) domain.
Required skills and experience
- 5+ years in software QA / test automation, with hands-on framework build and maintenance (not only test execution).
- Proficiency with a modern automation framework (Playwright or equivalent, such as Selenium or Cypress) integrated into CI/CD.
- Programming for test automation in JavaScript/TypeScript or Python.
- Strong test strategy and risk-based design, with fluency across API, UI, and integration testing.
- Hands-on AI-assisted or prompt-driven test generation, plus the discipline to validate what the AI produces.
- Experience testing AI, machine-learning, or LLM-backed features — handling non-determinism and designing evaluation/oracle checks such as golden sets and groundedness.
- A track record of converting manual regression into reliable automated coverage (shift-left), working embedded in a cross-functional team.
Preferred qualifications (nice to have)
- ISTQB Foundation (CTFL) or AI Testing (CT-AI) certification.
- Healthcare or other regulated-domain testing, and synthetic test data (for example Synthea/FHIR).
- Performance testing, contract testing, or self-healing test tooling.
What a strong candidate looks like
Has personally built automation up from a low baseline, can show AI-assisted tests they wrote and then validated, and has tested at least one AI or machine-learning feature with an evaluation harness rather than manual spot-checks.
Location and work model
Hybrid, working within the product engineering team on its collaboration hours. This role is early in an automation-first transition, so you will be building coverage from a modest baseline — a chance to set the standard rather than inherit it.
Compensation
Competitive compensation for a senior QA engineer, benchmarked to the local market. Specific range shared early in the process and in line with applicable pay-transparency requirements.
Equal opportunity and accommodation
We are an equal-opportunity employer and evaluate candidates on their ability to perform the essential functions of the role. We provide reasonable accommodation for applicants and employees with disabilities — please let us know if you need one during the process.
