Python Developer
TMT Finance – India – Fully Remote
About the Role
TMT Finance are looking for an experienced Python Developer to lead the transition of existing manual processes to an automation-first approach; helping improve the efficiency, scalability and consistency of our research workflows.
This role will take ownership of automation initiatives from initial concept through to implementation, working closely with research and other business stakeholders to identify opportunities where technology can remove repetitive work and improve how information is produced and managed.
A key part of the role will be ensuring that solutions are successfully embedded into day-to-day research workflows. The Python Developer will work closely with end users throughout development, iterating based on feedback and ensuring that tools are intuitive, reliable and maintainable.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who combines strong Python development skills with an ability to understand business processes and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders. The successful candidate will have considerable autonomy and the opportunity to shape the automation approach, establish development best practices, and build solutions that have a direct and measurable impact on the productivity of the research team.
Key Responsibilities
Python and Software Engineering
- Strong, professional experience developing applications and services using Python
- Deep understanding of Python fundamentals, including functions, classes, modules, iterators/generators, decorators and type hints.
- Demonstrable experience writing clean, maintainable and production quality code.
- Experience with automated testing, including unit and integration testing.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Experience with version control and collaborative development practices.
- Strong ability to critically evaluate and debug AI-generated code
Systems Design, Cloud and Production
- Demonstrable experience designing software systems and translating requirements into appropriate technical solutions.
- Professional experience deploying and supporting software in a production environment
- Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Familiarity with Docker and containerised applications
- Experience with application logging, monitoring and observability
- Ability to assess architectural and technical trad-offs and clearly explain design decisions
Stakeholder Management
- Experience working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into clear technical requirements and systems design
- Ability to explain technical concepts, risks, constraints and trade-offs to non-technical audiences.
- Support proprietary research, benchmarks, and insight products
Required Experience
· 3+ years’ experience developing company critical processes in Python
· Experience in stakeholder engagement with strong spoken and written English
· High-level of self-motivation
· Excellent verbal communication skills
· Attention to detail and patience
· Multi-tasking and strong time management
