Job Requirements
Job Purpose
To ensure safe installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Diesel Generator (DG) sets by implementing company safety policies, statutory regulations, and best industry practices at project sites.
🔹 Key Responsibilities
1️⃣ Site Safety Management
- Implement EHS policy and procedures at DG installation sites.
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA).
- Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations (Factories Act, State Safety Rules, PESO guidelines, etc.).
- Monitor work permits (Height work, Electrical, Hot work, Confined space).
2️⃣ DG Installation Safety Oversight
- Ensure safe unloading, shifting, and positioning of DG sets.
- Supervise crane operations and heavy equipment lifting activities.
- Monitor fuel storage and handling safety.
- Ensure proper earthing and electrical safety compliance.
- Oversee acoustic enclosure installation and ventilation safety.
3️⃣ Risk Control & Compliance
- Conduct daily toolbox talks.
- Inspect PPE usage and enforce compliance.
- Ensure fire prevention measures and emergency preparedness.
- Coordinate mock drills and emergency response training.
- Maintain MSDS for diesel and related chemicals.
4️⃣ Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare safety reports (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Maintain incident/near-miss records.
- Ensure statutory registers and compliance documentation.
- Submit safety performance reports to management.
5️⃣ Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction for workers and subcontractors.
- Train workers on safe DG operation practices.
- Promote safety culture at site.
🔹 Key Risks in DG Installation Projects
- Electrical shock hazards
- Fire & explosion risks (diesel storage)
- Noise exposure
- Heavy lifting and crane-related hazards
- Work at height (cable trays, exhaust stacks)
- Confined space risks (fuel tanks)
🔹 Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Civil)
- Diploma / Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 standards
- Minimum 3–7 years of experience in industrial/project safety (Power/Electrical preferred)
🔹 Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical safety
- Risk assessment and hazard analysis expertise
- Good communication and leadership skills
- Knowledge of fire safety standards
- Ability to handle emergency situations
🔹 Preferred Certifications
- NEBOSH / IOSH (preferred)
- First Aid & Fire Fighting Certification
- Authorized Electrical Safety Supervisor (if applicable)
