Company Description Anchalik Jana Kalyan Anusthan (AJKA) is a grassroots development organization founded in 2000, focused on empowering marginalized rural and tribal communities in Odisha and West Bengal. Over more than two decades, AJKA has supported over 25,000 households across districts such as Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, and Balarampur. The organization designs and implements locally driven programs in areas including sustainable livelihoods, climate-resilient agriculture, natural resource management, women and child development, education, health, and disaster risk reduction. Community participation is central to AJKA’s approach, strengthening the capacities of individuals, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and local institutions to build self-reliant communities. AJKA partners with government departments, CSR initiatives, donor agencies, and development institutions to deliver scalable, long-term development outcomes.
Role Description The Project Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based in Jharsuguda. The Project Manager will lead planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of community development projects, ensuring alignment with AJKA’s mission and donor requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating with field teams, SHGs, FPOs, and local institutions; managing project timelines, budgets, and resources; and overseeing logistics related to trainings, meetings, and field activities. The role involves supervising data collection and documentation, preparing progress reports and presentations, and ensuring quality standards in project execution. The Project Manager will also maintain regular communication with government stakeholders, CSR partners, and donors, support procurement and inspection of materials and services, and identify risks and mitigation measures to keep projects on track.
Qualifications
- Strong project management skills, including Project Management experience and ability to oversee multi-stakeholder development initiatives.
- Experience in expediting processes, with skills in Expeditor functions and Expediting to ensure timely delivery of project inputs and activities.
- Knowledge of logistics management, including Logistics Management skills to coordinate movement of materials, field resources, and event logistics.
- Inspection skills to oversee quality of goods, services, and field activities, ensuring compliance with project standards and guidelines.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, rural development, management, or a related field.
- Experience working with rural and tribal communities, SHGs, FPOs, or similar community-based institutions.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks, with strong analytical, documentation, and reporting abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and lead field teams.
