Role Overview
The Product Intern will support the enterprise-wide transformation from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition. The program covers Finance, Procurement, Inventory, Retail Operations, Integrations, Data Migration, and Business Process Transformation, with integrations across WMS, POS, Commerce, Banking, Tax, and other enterprise platforms.
This role combines Product Management and Project Management responsibilities, with a focus on requirement documentation, project governance, process mapping, testing coordination, data migration tracking, and implementation readiness. The intern will work closely with Product Managers, Program Leadership, Business Stakeholders, Implementation Partners, SAP Functional Teams, and Technology Teams.
This is a product and program execution role and does not involve SAP configuration or ABAP development.
Key Responsibilities
Product Requirements & Documentation
- Support Product Managers in gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and functional requirements.
- Translate business requirements into user stories, process flows, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
- Maintain product backlogs, requirement traceability, prioritization logs, assumptions, scope decisions, and dependencies.
- Assist in preparing BRDs, FRDs, process maps, solution decks, decision notes, and executive updates.
Project Execution & PMO Governance
- Maintain project plans, RAID logs, action trackers, milestone reports, governance calendars, and status dashboards.
- Coordinate with business stakeholders, implementation partners, SAP functional consultants, and technical teams.
- Support sprint planning, workstream reviews, project status meetings, and steering committee preparation.
- Track risks, issues, blockers, decisions, escalations, and inter-workstream dependencies through closure.
- Ensure project actions and deliverables are updated accurately and completed within agreed timelines.
SAP S/4HANA Migration Support
- Assist in documenting AS-IS SAP ECC processes and TO-BE SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud processes.
- Support fit-to-standard discussions and maintain process, requirement, and solution documentation.
- Assist with data migration planning, cleansing coordination, load tracking, validation, and reconciliation reporting.
- Coordinate activities across Finance, Materials Management, Sales and Distribution, and Retail workstreams.
- Support cutover planning, mock cutovers, readiness tracking, go-live preparation, and hypercare reporting.
Integration & Process Analysis
- Create and maintain interface inventories, integration trackers, and system dependency maps.
- Document integration flows involving SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, WMS, POS, Commerce, Banking, Tax, and other enterprise platforms.
- Support the analysis of APIs, master data, transactional data, exception flows, interfaces, and system ownership.
- Identify process gaps, integration dependencies, and operational risks requiring stakeholder attention.
- Coordinate with functional and technical teams to ensure accurate and complete integration documentation.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Prepare System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing scenarios, test cases, test data requirements, and traceability records.
- Coordinate test execution with business users, functional teams, implementation partners, and technical teams.
- Track defects across severity, ownership, ageing, resolution, retesting, evidence, and closure.
- Maintain testing dashboards, daily progress reports, defect summaries, and readiness trackers.
- Support the validation of business requirements and acceptance criteria before implementation.
Analytics & Reporting
- Create management dashboards and reports using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or similar reporting tools.
- Analyze delivery KPIs, testing metrics, migration progress, milestones, risks, and overall program status.
- Prepare weekly project reports, leadership summaries, governance updates, and presentation materials.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across project trackers and reporting dashboards.
- Highlight delays, risks, dependencies, and areas requiring management intervention.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with Product, Technology, Finance, Procurement, Operations, and external implementation teams.
- Coordinate meetings, document key discussions, and track agreed actions and decisions.
- Follow up with stakeholders to ensure timely completion of project deliverables and action items.
- Communicate project updates clearly through structured documentation and presentations.
- Support cross-functional collaboration throughout the migration lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline.
- Final-year students and recent graduates may apply.
- Academic or project exposure to enterprise applications, ERP platforms, product management, or digital transformation will be advantageous.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Product & Project Management
- Basic understanding of product management and project management principles.
- Familiarity with requirement gathering, user stories, acceptance criteria, and product backlogs.
- Understanding of Agile, Scrum, sprint planning, and project governance fundamentals.
- Ability to maintain structured trackers, documentation, and project reports.
Technology & Enterprise Systems
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Foundational knowledge of APIs, web services, integrations, SQL, and database concepts.
- Basic understanding of system design and enterprise application architecture.
- Awareness of ERP systems or SAP concepts will be preferred but is not mandatory.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Understanding of software testing methodologies and defect life cycles.
- Familiarity with System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing.
- Ability to prepare test cases, maintain traceability, and track defects through closure.
- Strong attention to detail while validating requirements, test evidence, and project data.
Tools
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Working knowledge of Visio, Draw.io, or similar process-mapping tools.
- Exposure to Jira or Azure DevOps will be preferred.
- Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or another reporting tool will be advantageous.
