Role Description The Privacy Solution Lead (DPO-capable) is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai, responsible for overseeing data protection and privacy compliance across client engagements and internal operations. This role involves designing and implementing privacy frameworks, policies, and controls aligned with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices. The Privacy Solution Lead will collaborate with technical and business teams to assess data risks, guide privacy-by-design in database solutions, and manage incident response and breach notifications. Day-to-day tasks include conducting privacy impact assessments, advising clients on regulatory requirements, delivering privacy-focused consulting, and preparing clear documentation and reports for stakeholders. The role also includes training team members on privacy practices and serving as a key point of contact for privacy inquiries from clients and regulators.
Qualifications
- 6–7 years' experience across data privacy, information security, or governance, risk & compliance — with at least 2 years focused on data protection or privacy
- Strong analytical skills to assess data risks, interpret regulations, and design effective privacy solutions.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex privacy concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and preparing clear documentation.
- Consulting experience in advising clients on privacy, compliance, and data protection strategies within technology or data-focused environments.
- Customer service and relationship management skills to build trust, handle sensitive privacy concerns, and support clients throughout engagements.
- Sales and pre-sales capabilities to support privacy-related solution design, proposals, and client presentations when needed.
- Knowledge of data protection laws and frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO/IEC 27701, local privacy regulations) and experience implementing privacy controls.
- Experience working with database environments, data architectures, or information security, preferably in a technical or data-driven organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in law, information security, computer science, data management, or a related field; relevant privacy or security certifications (such as CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent) are an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site in Chennai, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and handle multiple priorities with attention to detail.
