About the Role-
Own forecasting & predictive analytics
- Build and deliver scalable forecasting and predictive analytics solutions for business-critical use cases.
- Develop robust models across demand forecasting, sales forecasting, inventory analytics, supply/operations planning, and business performance forecasting.
- Work extensively with time-series and sequential data, including trends, seasonality, lag and rolling features, forecasting validation, backtesting, error analysis, and performance tuning.
- Apply appropriate statistical, machine learning, and forecasting techniques based on the business problem rather than defauting to a single modelling approach.
Turn business problems into decision intelligence
- Translate ambiguous business problems into clear analytical frameworks, modelling approaches, assumptions, features, metrics, and success criteria.
- Perform exploratory data analysis, hypothesis-driven analysis, feature engineering, model evaluation, and root-cause/error analysis.
- Work closely with business, product, engineering, and data teams to ensure models are practical, scalable, explainable, and aligned to business outcomes.
- Communicate model outputs, assumptions, limitations, recommendations, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Build production-grade data science
- Develop clean, modular, maintainable, and production-friendly Python solutions.
- Support deployment and integration of models into enterprise applications, APIs, and decision-support workflows.
- Contribute to model quality, experiment design, validation standards, documentation, and reusable data science practices.
- Work with engineering teams on packaging, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of analytical solutions.
Lead & raise the bar
- Mentor junior and mid-level data scientists through technical guidance, solution reviews, and hands-on coaching.
- Review modelling approaches and outputs, challenge assumptions, and promote strong data science practices.
- Contribute to the evolution of forecasting and decision-science capabilities across the 3SC platform.
- Stay current with relevant advances in machine learning, forecasting, applied AI, and emerging agentic decision-support approaches.
Mandatory Requirements:
- 7+ years of relevant experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, Applied AI, or a closely related field.
- Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis, modelling, experimentation, and solution engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience in predictive analytics, time-series forecasting, machine learning, statistical analysis, and feature engineering.
- Deep understanding of time-series and sequential data, including:
o Trend and seasonality analysis.
o Lag and rolling features.
o Forecast validation and backtesting.
o Forecast error analysis.
o Model performance tuning.
- Strong understanding of core data science concepts including supervised and unsupervised learning, model validation, feature selection/importance, bias-variance trade-offs, experimentation, and hypothesis-driven analysis.
- Experience working with structured and semi-structured business data and good working knowledge of SQL.
- Ability to independently turn an ambiguous business problem into an analytical framework, modelling approach, assumptions, metrics, and measurable success criteria.
- Experience building clean, modular, maintainable, production-oriented code.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across business, product, engineering, and data teams.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, driving discussions, challenging assumptions, and taking ownership of outcomes.
- Basic understanding of Docker/containers, Linux/command line, Python service packaging, deployment, and API integration.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor data scientists and review technical approaches and outputs.
Nice to have-
- Experience in supply chain or operations, particularly:
o Demand forecasting.
o Inventory analytics.

o Logistics/distribution analytics.
- Exposure to optimization, decision-support, or prescriptive analytics.
- Familiarity with FastAPI / Flask.
- Experience with Git and version control.
- Familiarity with MLflow or experiment-tracking platforms.
- Exposure to Airflow or workflow orchestration.
- Experience working with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Understanding of MLOps concepts including model packaging, deployment workflows, monitoring, and retraining pipelines.
- Exposure to LLMs, Generative AI, or Agentic AI systems, including:
o Prompt engineering.
o RAG and context-aware AI systems.
o Tool calling and orchestration.
o Multi-agent workflows.
o AI-assisted analytics and decision support.
- Experience working on enterprise-scale analytics, planning, or decision-intelligence platforms.
