Job details:
We are looking for an expert-level Post-Production Manager who can lead the editorial quality of premium, retention-focused educational YouTube content for top creators and brands.
This is not a traditional project-management or operations role. Approximately 80% of your responsibility will involve reviewing long-form YouTube edits, identifying creative and technical improvements, giving precise and actionable feedback, and ensuring every video meets Dragonfruit’s quality standards before client delivery. The remaining 20% will focus on communication, editor development, and team leadership.
This role is best suited for an experienced Video Editor who progressed into a Lead Editor, Supervising Editor, Editorial Lead, or Post-Production leadership position. You should understand high-quality YouTube storytelling at a level similar to Vox, Johnny Harris, Cleo Abram, Ali Abdaal, or Codie Sanchez.
We are not looking for someone who primarily manages schedules, assignments, and production pipelines. We are looking for an editorial quality leader with strong creative judgment who can review another editor’s work and explain exactly what should be added, removed, changed, or improved—and why.
The ideal candidate understands hooks, story structure, pacing, audience retention, visual clarity, asset selection, motion graphics, sound design, and how every editorial decision affects the viewer’s experience.
About the Company

Beauty, Y Combinator, United Talent Agency, Linktree, Flow Research Collective, Center for Humane Technology, and more.
Long-term, Dragonfruit plans to develop pioneering YouTube educational-professional programs and launch the first-ever Independent YouTube Film Studio, producing diverse and impactful narrative works for theatrical release and organic YouTube publication.
Responsibilities
- Review long-form educational YouTube videos created by multiple editors.
- Act as one of the final editorial quality gatekeepers before videos are delivered to clients.
- Identify what should be added, removed, changed, or improved in every cut.
- Evaluate hooks, story structure, pacing, retention, clarity, visual storytelling, asset selection, motion graphics, sound design, captions, color, brand consistency, and technical quality.
- Give precise, timestamped, and actionable feedback that explains what needs to change, why it matters, and how the editor can improve it.
- Provide references, examples, visual concepts, mockups, or recorded walkthroughs when written feedback is not enough.
- Separate high-impact, must-fix revisions from lower-priority polish.
- Review revised versions and confirm that feedback has been applied correctly.
- Maintain ownership of the video’s quality through final approval.
- Help editors understand the creative reasoning behind feedback instead of simply giving instructions.
- Adapt your explanation when an editor does not understand a note.
- Identify recurring weaknesses and coach editors toward greater independence and stronger creative judgment.
- Work closely with Video Editors, Creative Directors, Producers, and other post-production leaders.
- Maintain consistent quality across different creators, clients, formats, and channel styles.
- Review a high volume of active post-production projects without lowering the quality bar.
- Communicate blockers, quality concerns, and delivery risks early.
- Help improve post-production standards, review systems, quality-control processes, and editor-development practices.
- Use your knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects to ensure feedback is technically realistic and executable.
- Support a fast-moving, remote, YouTube-first post-production environment.
Qualifications
- Expert-level experience editing long-form YouTube videos.
- At least 4 years of professional video-editing or post-production experience, preferably within a YouTube-first agency, creator team, digital studio, or media company.
- Clear career progression from Video Editor to Senior Editor, Lead Editor, Supervising Editor, Editorial Lead, or a similar editorial leadership position.
- Proven responsibility for reviewing and improving other editors’ long-form YouTube work.
- A portfolio containing relevant, high-quality, long-form YouTube content.
- Ability to explain how your feedback materially improved a video’s hook, story, pacing, retention, clarity, visuals, sound, or overall viewer experience.
- Expert-level knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe After Effects and motion graphics.
- Strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, audience retention, watch time, and viewer engagement.
- Ability to assess B-roll, archival footage, graphics, visual references, music, sound design, captions, and motion graphics at a detailed creative level.
- Experience giving timestamped feedback using Frame.io or an equivalent review platform.
- Ability to provide clear feedback using a What → Why → How structure.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or developing Video Editors.
- Ability to manage feedback across multiple editors and projects without becoming vague or inconsistent.
- Strong attention to detail across both creative quality and technical execution.
- Direct, respectful, and professional communication style.
- Strong self-awareness, accountability, reliability, and openness to feedback.
- Ability to work constructively under pressure and maintain a high quality bar.
- Reliable computer or workstation, strong internet connection, and a professional remote-working setup.
- Full-time availability with the ability to maintain the required overlap with the team.
- Willingness to make Dragonfruit your number-one professional focus.
This Role Is Not For
- Traditional Project Managers who primarily handle schedules, assignments, deadlines, and operations.
- Post-Production Managers without strong hands-on editing experience.
- Editors who have never been responsible for reviewing or approving other editors’ work.
- Editors with only short-form, Reels, TikTok, or paid-social experience.
- Candidates whose experience is limited to film, television, broadcast, weddings, corporate videos, commercials, or events without substantial long-form YouTube experience.
- Candidates who only check spelling, captions, exports, file names, or other basic quality-control issues.
- Reviewers who give vague feedback such as “improve the pacing,” “make it more engaging,” or “use better B-roll” without explaining what, why, and how.
- Managers who simply pass along feedback from someone else.
- Editors who take over projects themselves instead of coaching the assigned editor.
- Candidates who are uncomfortable giving detailed feedback or managing several revision rounds.
- Candidates who become defensive when receiving feedback about their own work or leadership style.
- Candidates who do not have strong Premiere Pro and After Effects knowledge.
- Candidates who want to maintain another full-time job or a heavy freelance workload alongside this role.
- Candidates who cannot maintain consistent quality while reviewing multiple editors and projects.
Benefits
- Compensation: USD $40,000–$100,000 annually, location-adjusted based on region, experience, and demonstrated ability.
- Work from your own time zone with the required team overlap.
- Work from anywhere—we are a 100% remote team.
- A quarterly wellness reimbursement.
- 20 days of paid time off annually.
- 12 additional holidays per year.
- Unlimited sick and bereavement leave.
- Work for a values-oriented company committed to positive social impact.
- Unlimited reimbursement for book purchases for self-education.
- Gifts or cash bonuses for birthdays, work anniversaries, and other work-related achievements.
- Work directly with some of the largest creators and brands on the planet.
- Help define the editorial quality standards used across Dragonfruit’s post-production team.
- Develop editors while helping build a stronger and more scalable YouTube-first creative organization.

This could include progressing into roles such as Senior Post-Production Manager, Head of Post-Production, Director of the Editing Department, Creative Director, or beyond. These positions come with increased responsibility and compensation.
If you are an experienced YouTube editor who has developed into an exceptional editorial leader and you know how to make other editors’ work significantly better—we would love to hear from you.
