Job Summary
We are seeking seasoned Plant Heads to lead end-to-end manufacturing operations in a high-mix, high-volume electronics manufacturing environment (EMS). The role is accountable for delivering production targets across quality, cost, delivery, and efficiency, while ensuring robust shopfloor discipline, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Delivery Execution
- Drive execution across SMT, THT, Box Build, and Testing operations
- Ensure adherence to Master Production Schedule (MPS) with minimal deviation
- Oversee line balancing and shift planning to meet output targets
Manufacturing Efficiency & Throughput
- Improve OEE, throughput, and cycle time
- Optimize changeover time in high-mix environments
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks (equipment, testing capacity, etc.)
Quality Management
- Ensure high First Pass Yield (FPY) and low defect rates (PPM)
- Lead structured problem-solving (8D, Fishbone, 5 Why) and CAPA
- Manage customer and certification audits (ISO/IATF)
Engineering & NPI
- Lead New Product Introduction (pilot to ramp-up)
- Ensure DFM/DFA compliance and production readiness
- Drive continuous process and tooling improvements
Maintenance & Reliability
- Ensure high uptime of SMT lines, AOI, ICT, and related equipment
- Implement TPM practices and reduce breakdown losses
Workforce Management & Productivity
- Manage large shopfloor teams (operators, supervisors)
- Drive productivity, multi-skilling, and workforce discipline
- Ensure safety and statutory compliance
Cost Optimization
- Control scrap, rework, and consumables
- Improve conversion cost per unit
- Support Lean and Six Sigma initiatives
EHS & Compliance
- Ensure ESD-safe environment and zero-accident culture
- Maintain audit readiness and regulatory compliance
Key Interfaces
- Planning: Capacity feedback; realistic execution (no over-commitment)
- SCM: Material availability coordination; escalate shortages/quality issues
- Mfg Head: Performance reporting; escalation of risks and capacity gaps
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of SMT processes (placement, reflow, AOI)
- Knowledge of PCB assembly, testing, and yield improvement
- Familiarity with process capability and manufacturing analytics
Operational Excellence
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM
Leadership Capabilities
- Strong shopfloor leadership and discipline management
- Conflict resolution and team engagement skills
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electronics / Mechanical / Production)
Experience
- 10–15 years in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS)
- Proven experience in high-mix, high-volume production environments
- Managed large teams (500–1000+ workforce, blue & white collar & grey collar)
- Exposure to Industry 4.0 and productivity improvement initiatives
- Strong track record in quality management and customer audits
