Role Description The Pilot for Counsellors – Mentalsaathi Lume (Free) role at Mental Saathi is a full-time remote position focused on supporting the rollout and refinement of a free digital counseling offering for young users. The pilot counsellor will engage with users through scheduled virtual sessions, chat-based support, and follow-ups, ensuring a compassionate, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed approach. Day-to-day tasks include assessing user needs, providing structured guidance, documenting interactions, and collaborating with the core team to improve workflows and resources. The role involves contributing to content for mental health tools, sharing feedback on platform features, and participating in regular team check-ins to ensure safe and ethical service delivery. This position is ideal for someone passionate about youth mental health, digital care models, and building accessible support systems.
Qualifications
- Counseling and mental health skills: foundational knowledge of mental health principles, experience in supportive listening, and the ability to provide empathetic, non-directive guidance.
- <li.communication skills: strong written and verbal communication, ability to explain concepts clearly, comfort with online conversations chat-based support.< li>
- Digital and remote work skills: familiarity with digital platforms, video-conferencing tools, and basic documentation practices in a remote environment.
- Youth engagement skills: sensitivity to youth-specific issues such as academic stress, identity concerns, and social pressure, with a commitment to non-discriminatory and inclusive practice.
- Relevant education: pursuing or holding a degree in psychology, counseling, social work, mental health, or a related field; relevant certifications or training in counseling or mental health support are a plus.
- Professional qualities: ability to maintain confidentiality, follow ethical guidelines, work independently, and collaborate effectively with a small, mission-driven team.
- Additional beneficial experience: prior work with student communities, helplines, peer support initiatives, or digital mental health platforms; multilingual skills are an advantage.
