GEOUE is the geotechnical instrumentation, monitoring and engineering intelligence platform of Geoorigin Engineering Limited, supporting infrastructure, construction and ground-risk projects across international markets.
Our work goes beyond conventional instrumentation and monitoring. GEOUE combines geotechnical engineering, monitoring data, environmental information, automation, digital technologies and artificial intelligence to improve how engineering information is collected, checked, interpreted and communicated.
We are developing a distributed international engineering network and are looking for motivated geotechnical professionals who are interested not only in traditional engineering practice, but also in the future of AI-assisted geotechnical engineering, monitoring intelligence and engineering data processing.
The Role
We are looking for a Part-Time Geotechnical Engineer to support GEOUE's technical, data and engineering intelligence activities.
This position is particularly suitable for graduates and early-career engineers who want to build experience at the intersection of:
Geotechnical Engineering × Environmental Engineering × Monitoring × Data × Artificial Intelligence
The role may be performed remotely, in hybrid form or with occasional local project involvement depending on the country, assignment and candidate's experience.
This is not purely a site-based engineering role. A significant part of the work involves understanding engineering information, organising technical data, reviewing monitoring results and helping develop AI-assisted engineering workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, organise and review geotechnical, geological and environmental engineering information.
- Assist with analysis and QA/QC of geotechnical monitoring datasets.
- Work with monitoring information such as ground movement, settlement, inclination, groundwater level, pore-water pressure, vibration, structural movement and other engineering parameters.
- Support interpretation of instrumentation and monitoring results for excavation, tunnelling, rail, buildings, slopes, infrastructure and other ground-related projects.
- Assist with preparation of monitoring summaries, engineering reports, technical notes, dashboards and data visualisations.
- Review historical monitoring records and identify missing data, abnormal readings, inconsistencies, trends and potential data-quality issues.
- Help structure engineering information for use in artificial intelligence and machine-learning workflows.
- Assist with development, testing and evaluation of AI-assisted tools for geotechnical and environmental engineering.
- Review AI-generated technical outputs and compare them against engineering principles, project information and available data.
- Assist with preparation and cleaning of engineering datasets used for AI training, evaluation or knowledge-base development.
- Support technical research relating to geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, environmental monitoring, instrumentation and emerging technologies.
- Search, review and summarise relevant technical papers, standards, case studies and engineering references.
- Assist in development of technical databases and structured engineering knowledge.
- Support monitoring system planning, instrumentation selection and monitoring strategy studies where required.
- Assist with technical evaluation of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring technologies.
- Work with GEOUE engineers and technical collaborators across different countries and time zones.
- Participate in selected local engineering, monitoring or technical coordination activities where appropriate.
- Contribute ideas for improving engineering workflows through automation, software and artificial intelligence.
- Support other GEOUE engineering intelligence, research and technology-development activities according to project requirements.
Who We Are Looking For
Candidates should have a university degree, or be completing a relevant degree, in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Engineering Geology or a closely related discipline.
Fresh graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
A strong candidate does not need to already be an expert in artificial intelligence or programming. More important is the ability to understand engineering problems, work carefully with technical information and learn new tools.
We particularly value candidates who demonstrate good fundamentals in soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering, geology or engineering geology; an interest in geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; confidence working with engineering data and spreadsheets; careful attention to data quality and technical details; the ability to read engineering drawings, reports, borehole information or monitoring records; logical and analytical thinking; good written English; willingness to learn AI-assisted engineering tools; and the ability to work independently in a remote international environment.
Knowledge of Excel, Python, MATLAB, SQL, GIS, CAD, Power BI, data visualisation, programming or AI tools would be advantageous, but is not mandatory.
Previous experience in instrumentation and monitoring, site investigation, tunnelling, deep excavation, foundations, slope engineering, construction monitoring, environmental monitoring or engineering consultancy would also be useful, but previous professional experience is not required for graduate applicants.

Traditional graduate geotechnical positions often focus primarily on calculations, site supervision or report preparation.
At GEOUE, you may work with engineering information from another angle: transforming raw monitoring and project data into structured information that can support engineering judgement, automated analysis and future AI systems.
You may therefore work on problems involving sensor data, monitoring trends, engineering anomalies, historical project records, automated reporting, data quality, engineering knowledge extraction and AI-assisted interpretation.
The objective is not to replace engineering judgement with artificial intelligence.
Our approach is to use technology to help engineers process larger quantities of information, identify issues earlier, improve consistency and make better-informed engineering decisions.

Working Arrangement
This is a part-time position.
Working hours can generally be arranged flexibly according to project requirements, candidate availability and local circumstances.
Depending on the assignment, work may include remote engineering tasks, online technical collaboration, data processing, technical research and occasional local project or site support.
Candidates may work with GEOUE on projects located both within their own country and internationally.
