Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Structural Design Engineer role based in Chennai. The Structural Design Engineer will develop safe, efficient structural designs for offshore, marine, industrial, and energy projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications. Daily responsibilities include performing structural analyses, preparing design calculations and reports, creating and reviewing CAD and AutoCAD drawings, and coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams. The role involves supporting project engineers through design development, design reviews, and responding to technical queries during fabrication and installation. The Structural Design Engineer will also participate in contributing to design optimization for cost and constructability, and maintain accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Structural Engineering and Structural Analysis, with the ability to design and assess steel, concrete, and offshore structures.
- Background in Civil Engineering, with understanding of relevant codes, standards, and construction practices in industrial and energy applications.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools, including AutoCAD, for creating, modifying, and reviewing detailed structural drawings and models.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with mechanical, piping, electrical, and project engineering disciplines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a closely related field; a master’s degree or specialized coursework in structural or offshore engineering is an advantage.
- Experience with STAAD.Pro and familiarity with international design codes (e.g., AISC, Eurocode, API, ISO) is beneficial.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to produce clear calculations, reports, and documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
