Role: RSK-IEC Operations Lead

This is a full-time role working 40 hours a week.

Direct Reports
Team Leads across Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, BIM/CAD, Network Modelling and future disciplines including Project Management, Geotechnical, Hydraulics & Modelling, Digital Delivery and other technical functions.
Primary Purpose
Reporting to the Director of Water Services,UK, the Operations Lead – India will be responsible for the strategic leadership, operational management and continued growth of India delivery centre.
The role will provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team of engineering, design, modelling and business support professionals delivering services to the UK water industry. The postholder will support the growth of the office whilst maintaining a strong focus on employee engagement, operational excellence, quality, productivity and technical capability development.
As a member of the Water Services Leadership Team, the Operations Lead – India will contribute to the ongoing development of global delivery capability.
Leadership & Strategic Development
• Provide visible and inspirational leadership.
• Lead the development and execution of the India growth strategy.
• Support development of the India operation as a centre of excellence.
• Contribute as a member of the Water Services Leadership Team.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation and operational excellence.
Safety, Health & Wellbeing
• Lead the business in a safe, healthy and responsible manner.

• Ensure managers and Team Leads fulfil their responsibilities.
Client Focus & Delivery Excellence
• Support delivery of engineering and design services for UK water and wastewater programmes.
• Promote technical excellence across Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, BIM/CAD and Modelling disciplines.
• Ensure adherence to Binnies quality management systems and technical standards.
People Leadership
• Lead, manage and develop Team Leads and technical teams.
• Lead employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives.
• Support learning, development and professional accreditation.
• Develop future leaders through succession planning and mentoring.
Workforce Growth & Recruitment
• Lead recruitment to expand the office.
• Develop workforce plans aligned to business requirements.
• Build talent pipelines through universities, professional institutions and recruitment partners.
Resource Planning & Operational Management
• Work closely with UK Resource Managers, Business Unit Leaders and Discipline Leads.
• Monitor utilisation, productivity, capability and operational performance.
• Support monthly reviews, quarterly forecasting and annual workforce planning.
• Optimise resource deployment across projects and programmes.
Commercial & Performance Management
• Support achievement of utilisation and productivity targets.
• Monitor operational metrics and provide performance reporting.
• Support budget planning and cost management associated with office growth.
Governance & Compliance
• Work closely with the India HR team to support compliance with Indian employment legislation.
• Support governance, risk management and audit activities.
• Ensure compliance with Binnies policies and procedures.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
• Act as the primary interface between India operations and UK leadership teams.
• Develop strong relationships with UK Directors, Framework Managers, Resource Managers and Practice Leads.
• Communicate business performance, risks and opportunities effectively.
Key Accountabilities
• Successful growth from approximately 40 to 80 employees.
• Achievement of recruitment, retention and engagement targets.
• Delivery of utilisation, productivity and operational objectives.
• Consistent delivery of high-quality engineering outputs.
• Establishment of a scalable organisational structure for future growth.
Essential Experience
• Significant senior leadership experience within an engineering consultancy, engineering design organisation or technical services business.
• Experience supporting UK clients preferred; other international markets considered.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Water sector experience preferred; other infrastructure sectors considered.
• Proven experience in workforce planning, organisational growth and operational performance.
Essential Qualifications
• Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Management or related discipline.
• Demonstrable understanding of engineering consultancy and design delivery environments.
Desirable Qualifications
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent recognised professional accreditation.
• Project Management qualification.
• Experience working with UK-based engineering organisations.
