Role Overview
The Operations Head / Manager - Operations will supervise the hospital's day-to-day administrative and support-service operations. The role is responsible for operational excellence, uninterrupted service delivery, interdepartmental coordination, regulatory compliance, and a high standard of patient service.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise general administration and coordinate with clinical, nursing, administrative, and outsourced service teams.
- Oversee housekeeping, food and beverage services, laundry, security, fire safety, accommodation, transport, ambulance services, biomedical waste management, pest control, gardening, courier services, and other facility operations.
- Conduct daily briefings with security and fire-safety supervisors, review feedback, check CCTV systems, and arrange monthly fire-safety training across departments.
- Monitor home-care services and verify monthly billing.
- Ensure daily collection of biomedical waste and prepare and submit the required annual regulatory reports.
- Oversee the Medical Records Department, ensure timely submission of MIS reports, guide MRD executives, and handle escalations.
- Monitor housekeeping standards through regular meetings with the manager and supervisors.
- Resolve patient grievances and operational escalations promptly and sensitively.
- Ensure uninterrupted supplies and services, including newspapers for IPD and OPD areas, pantry provisions, and courier facilities.
- Coordinate ambulance availability for patient discharge and transfer, hospital vehicles for specimens and laboratory samples, and departmental vehicle bookings.
- Supervise food and beverage operations, including timely meal dispatch, inventory availability, and stock replenishment.
- Manage accommodation for doctors and nurses, including daily housekeeping and the provision of mattresses, pillows, curtains, and other essential items.
- Ensure scheduled pest-control treatment is completed across all hospital departments.
- Maintain a compliance calendar and ensure licences and agreements are renewed on time.
- Liaise with relevant government and municipal authorities and develop strategies to resolve pending approvals or renewals.
- Raise and monitor material indents required by the operations team.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- MHA or MBA from a recognized institution.
- At least 10 years of experience in hospital administration, healthcare operations, or facility management.
- Strong experience managing support services and outsourced vendors.
- Working knowledge of hospital licensing, fire safety, biomedical waste regulations, and statutory compliance.
- Proven ability to coordinate across departments and manage patient or service escalations.
- Strong leadership, communication, vendor-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to be based in Deoghar, Jharkhand.
