We are looking for an experienced and highly capable Nursery Manager to lead and oversee all nursery operations across our multiple production units. The ideal candidate should have a strong horticulture background and hands-on experience managing large-scale commercial nurseries, including production planning, plant health, inventory, manpower, and financial management.
This is a leadership role responsible for ensuring efficient nursery operations, maintaining high-quality plant production, optimizing costs, and ensuring adequate stock availability to support our retail, wholesale, landscaping, and project businesses.
- Key Responsibilities :
- Manage the complete operations of multiple nursery units.
- Plan and execute annual, quarterly, and monthly production schedules based on business demand.
- Oversee propagation activities, including seeds, cuttings, grafting, air-layering, and other suitable techniques.
- Ensure healthy plant growth through proper irrigation, nutrition, pruning, pest, and disease management.
- Monitor plant quality and maintain high production standards across all nursery units.
- Manage nursery supervisors, unit in-charges, and labor teams, ensuring efficient manpower planning and productivity.
- Maintain accurate inventory of all plant varieties and conduct regular stock verification.
- Forecast stock requirements and ensure timely availability of saleable plants.
- Prepare and manage nursery budgets, monitor operational costs, and implement cost-control measures.
- Analyze production efficiency, plant mortality, and cost per plant, and recommend continuous improvements.
- Coordinate closely with the Sales and Projects teams to align production with market demand.
- Ensure proper maintenance of irrigation systems, shade-net houses, polyhouses, machinery, and other nursery infrastructure.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for nursery operations.
- Prepare regular MIS reports covering production, inventory, financial performance, labor productivity, and operational KPIs.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and profitability across the nursery.
- Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field (mandatory).
- Master's Degree in Horticulture or a related specialization is preferred.
- Experience :
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in commercial nursery management.
- Experience managing multiple nursery units and large-scale plant production.
- Strong knowledge of ornamental, fruit, flowering, avenue, and landscape plants.
- Experience leading large teams of supervisors and laborers.
- Required Skills :
- Strong knowledge of horticulture and commercial nursery operations.
- Expertise in propagation, irrigation, fertigation, and plant health management.
- Production planning and inventory management.
- Financial planning, budgeting, and cost control.
- Leadership and people management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent planning, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools. Experience with ERP or inventory management systems is an added advantage.
