Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Associate Vice President (AVP) – Engineering to lead engineering delivery, release management, and client support operations. The ideal candidate will drive backend engineering excellence, oversee scalable microservice-based applications, and ensure high-quality delivery across multiple enterprise clients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering Leadership
Lead and mentor engineering managers, team leads, and backend engineering teams.
Drive architecture and design decisions for Java-based microservices applications.
Establish and enforce engineering best practices, including code quality, testing standards, CI/CD, and API governance.
Ensure timely and high-quality delivery across all client engagements.
Manage hiring, performance reviews, career development, and succession planning.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Track and improve engineering KPIs such as sprint velocity, deployment frequency, and defect metrics.
2. Release Management
Own end-to-end release lifecycle management including planning, scheduling, risk assessment, and execution.
Define release governance processes to support zero-downtime deployments.
Coordinate release readiness activities across engineering and DevOps teams.
Improve CI/CD automation, rollback strategies, and deployment efficiency.
Maintain release calendars and proactively communicate with stakeholders and clients.
Drive continuous improvement in release predictability and change management.
3. Client Support Operations
Oversee the client support team handling production issues and client-raised tickets.
Define and monitor SLA/SLO adherence for response and resolution timelines.
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes for recurring issues.
Establish support processes, knowledge management, and operational runbooks.
Act as escalation point for critical client incidents and coordinate cross-functional resolution.
Present support metrics and operational reports to leadership and clients.
Required Skills & Experience
13+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in engineering leadership.
Strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and enterprise application development.
Expertise in microservices architecture, REST APIs, event-driven systems, and distributed systems.
Experience managing multi-layered engineering teams.
Strong exposure to release management in multi-client or SaaS environments.
Experience handling client-facing support operations and SLA-driven environments.
Hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Docker, and Kubernetes.
Good understanding of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Exposure to LLM or Agentic Engineering will be an added advantage.Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience with ITIL or service management frameworks.
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Agile delivery methodologies.
Certifications in Cloud, DevOps, Agile, or Project Management frameworks are preferred.
