Product Sustainability Specialist - Chemical

The Product Sustainability Specialist - Chemical will support Allegion’s product sustainability efforts by enabling transparent material and environmental reporting—helping to develop Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Health Product Declarations (HPDs), and other product transparency documentation.
The Product Sustainability Specialist - Chemical focuses on Material Health and Transparency. You will take the mechanical data provided by the engineering team and determine the chemical makeup of all parts, conducting supplier outreach campaigns, and utilizing the HPD Builder to generate declarations.
Responsibilities
- Chemical Data Consolidation: Work across multiple systems to correlate part numbers with supplier chemical data and chemical composition.
- HPD Execution: Manage the end-to-end creation of Health Product Declarations by entering validated material data into the HPD Builder tool.
- Supplier Engagement: Conduct campaigns to close data gaps, working directly with suppliers to obtain chemical disclosures and material declarations.
- Material Health Analysis: Analyze supplier data to identify chemical hazards and ensure data quality meets the standards for LEED, Living Building Challenge and other green building rating systems.
- Program Enablement: Coordinate with the Mechanical Engineer and US-based teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting for sustainability projects.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- Experience: 2–5 years in materials compliance, chemical analysis, or sustainability reporting.
- Domain Knowledge: Understanding of chemical regulations and familiarity with HPDs, EPDs, or similar transparency documents.
- Systems: Experience with HPD Builder, Assent Compliance, or IMDS is highly preferred. Proficiency in Excel is required.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to summarize complex chemical data and identify missing information in supplier declarations.
- Soft Skills: Strong written communication for supplier interaction; naturally collaborative and detail-oriented.
