About the Role
We are looking for a Yoga Philosophy specialist with strong Sanskrit knowledge and excellent English writing ability to join our Content & Editorial team.
This is not primarily a content-writing role.
We are looking for someone who understands Yoga as a subject and can use that knowledge to create accurate, thoughtful and accessible English content for an international audience.
You should be comfortable working with classical Yoga texts, Sanskrit terminology and philosophical concepts, while also being able to explain them naturally to a modern reader.
The ideal candidate may come from a background such as:
- Yoga Philosophy
- Yogic Science
- Sanskrit
- Indian Philosophy
- Indology
- Traditional Yoga education
- Ashram-based Yoga studies
- Academic research in Yoga or related subjects
A strong academic background is valued, but demonstrated depth of understanding matters more than a particular job title.
What You Will Do1. Research Classical Yoga
Research and develop content based on authentic Yoga sources, including texts such as:
- Patañjali's Yoga Sutras
- Bhagavad Gita
- Hatha Yoga Pradipika
- Gheranda Samhita
- Upanishads
- Other relevant classical Yoga and Indian philosophical texts
You will be expected to distinguish between classical sources, later interpretations and modern adaptations.
2. Write in Excellent English
Turn your knowledge of Yoga philosophy into:
- Long-form educational articles
- In-depth guides
- Philosophy explainers
- Course-related educational content
- Newsletter content
- Video scripts
- Educational social-media content
The writing should be clear, engaging and natural—not academic writing copied into a blog format.
3. Explain Difficult Ideas Simply
You should be able to take a concept such as:
- Pratyahara
- Samkhya
- Kleshas
- Chitta Vritti
- Purusha and Prakriti
- Gunas
- Abhyasa and Vairagya
- Dhyana
- Samadhi
and explain it to an international Yoga practitioner who may have no formal background in Sanskrit or Indian philosophy.
The objective is simplification without distortion.
4. Work With Sanskrit Sources
You should be able to:
- Understand Sanskrit terminology
- Read Devanagari, where applicable
- Work with IAST transliteration
- Check Sanskrit terms and meanings
- Verify quotations and verse references
- Compare translations where necessary
- Identify differences in interpretation
You do not need to be a Sanskrit linguistics scholar, but you must be comfortable going back to the original source when accuracy matters.
5. Protect Philosophical Accuracy
You will be responsible for ensuring that content does not:
- Mix different traditions casually
- Present modern interpretations as classical teachings
- Make unsupported philosophical claims
- Misquote classical texts
- Oversimplify concepts to the point of distortion
- Treat popular internet explanations as authoritative
Source quality and intellectual honesty are critical to this role.
6. Develop and Improve Existing Content
Review existing Arhanta Yoga articles and educational materials and identify opportunities to improve:
- Philosophical accuracy
- Sanskrit terminology
- Source references
- Structure
- English language
- Clarity
- Reader engagement
- Practical relevance
7. Collaborate With Yoga Experts
You will work closely with experienced Yoga teachers, subject experts, editors and the marketing team.
You should be comfortable receiving feedback, discussing philosophical interpretations and revising your work when required.
8. Work With the Content Team
You will receive content briefs and editorial direction from the Content/Marketing team.
SEO knowledge is useful but is not the primary requirement. The SEO team will provide keyword and search-intent guidance where required.
Your responsibility is to ensure that the subject matter remains accurate, useful and trustworthy.
What We Are Looking ForEssential
1. Strong academic background in Yoga Philosophy / Yogic Science / Sanskrit / Indian Philosophy or a closely related field.
A Master's degree is strongly preferred.
2. Strong understanding of Yoga philosophy
You should have studied Yoga beyond asana practice and be comfortable discussing classical Yoga philosophy.
3. Formal Sanskrit background
A degree, diploma or substantial formal study in Sanskrit is strongly preferred.
4. Excellent written English
You must be able to write polished, natural English for an international audience.
5. Strong research ability
You should know how to locate, compare and verify reliable sources rather than depending on generic online summaries.
6. Ability to read primary sources
You should be comfortable working with Sanskrit texts, translations, commentaries or academic sources relevant to the topic.
7. Strong editorial judgement
You should be able to distinguish:
What is classical teaching → what is interpretation → what is modern application.Preferred Background
We would particularly welcome candidates with backgrounds such as:
- Master's / M.Phil / PhD in Yoga Philosophy or Yogic Science
- Master's / M.A. / PhD in Sanskrit
- Indian Philosophy
- Indology
- Yoga studies
- Sanskrit literature
- Traditional Yoga education
- Research experience in Yoga philosophy
- Teaching experience in Yoga philosophy
- Ashram or Gurukula study experience
- Experience teaching Yoga Philosophy in TTC programmes
A recognised Yoga Teacher Training qualification is an advantage.
This Role Is NOT For You If...
- Your experience is primarily generic content writing or SEO writing.
- Your Yoga knowledge comes mainly from personal practice without formal philosophical study.
- You have Sanskrit qualifications but struggle to write fluent English.
- You can write excellent English but have limited knowledge of Yoga philosophy.
- You rely primarily on ChatGPT, Google snippets or secondary websites instead of checking original sources.
- You are uncomfortable questioning or verifying commonly repeated Yoga claims.
- You cannot distinguish between different philosophical traditions and interpretations.
- You prefer purely academic writing and cannot make complex ideas accessible to ordinary readers.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 90 days, you should be able to:
- Produce accurate, well-researched Yoga philosophy articles.
- Work independently with classical sources.
- Verify Sanskrit terms and philosophical references.
- Explain complex concepts in accessible English.
- Identify inaccuracies in existing content.
- Strengthen the philosophical authority of Arhanta Yoga's content.
