About Bright Money
Bright Money is a consumer fintech built for middle-income consumers. Our platform helps consumers build credit, manage debt, and access suitable loans and credit cards—addressing the key financial needs of people living paycheck to paycheck.
Bright is a profitable, India-built fintech serving the U.S. market, with a clear trajectory toward $100 million in revenue. Our business model combines subscription revenue with a financial-services marketplace across loans, credit cards, and credit-building solutions.
We have launched an AI-powered money assistant and agentic AI experiences that simplify access to credit. Our ambition is to build the first AI-driven consumer-fintech platform for middle-income consumers.
Founded in 2019, Bright’s founding team includes leaders from McKinsey’s Banking Practice—Petko Plachkov and Avi Patchava—and data science leaders from InMobi. Bright is backed by leading global venture capital firms and technology investors across the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
With a data-driven, high-ownership, and fast-paced culture, we are building a global consumer-fintech company from India.
What is the role about?
Bright is looking for a Public Relations & Corporate Communications Manager to build and strengthen our brand presence in India and the USA. The role owns external communications, media relations, corporate storytelling, and CXO positioning across both markets.
You will also partner closely with the Marketing team to manage Bright’s corporate social media presence and CXO profiles.
What will you do?
- Communications strategy: Develop and execute Bright’s PR and corporate communications strategy across India and the US.
- Narrative building: Build compelling narratives around Bright’s mission, growth, products, AI-led innovation, culture, and customer impact for both markets.
- Media relationships: Establish strong relationships with business, fintech, technology, startup, and consumer-focused journalists in India and the US.
- Earned media: Secure meaningful earned-media opportunities, including interviews, features, opinion articles, expert commentary, podcasts, and speaking engagements.
- CXO positioning: Position Bright’s founders and CXOs as credible industry voices through media interactions, thought leadership, events, and social media.
- Social media: Partner with Marketing to manage Bright’s corporate social media presence and CXO profiles, building content calendars and authentic, platform-relevant content for corporate and leadership channels.
- Corporate content: Write and edit press releases, media pitches, opinion pieces, executive briefs, talking points, FAQs, and other corporate content.
- Spokesperson readiness: Prepare founders and CXOs for media interviews, conferences, podcasts, and other external engagements.
- Market monitoring: Track industry developments, competitor narratives, and relevant conversations across India and the US to identify communication opportunities and potential reputational risks.
- Agency management: Manage PR agencies and external partners across both markets, ensuring proactive, high-quality, and outcome-focused execution.
- Cross-functional alignment: Partner with Marketing, Product, Finance, Human Potential, Legal, and leadership teams so that all external communications are accurate, consistent, and aligned with Bright’s brand and business priorities.
Ideal candidate profile
Experience & Background:
- Experience: 6–10 years in public relations, corporate communications, or external communications.
- Background mix: A combination of prior PR agency experience and current or recent in-house corporate communications experience is strongly preferred.
- Sector: Experience in fintech is preferred; consumer technology, financial services, or other high-growth technology sectors may also be considered.
- Media network: Strong relationships with business, fintech, technology, and startup journalists in India.
- Track record: Proven success in securing credible, high-quality earned-media coverage.
- Social & CXO profiles: Experience managing corporate social media and CXO or founder profiles.
- Writing: Excellent writing, storytelling, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex fintech, business, data, and AI topics into compelling narratives.
- Stakeholders: Experience working directly with founders, CXOs, and senior stakeholders.
- International exposure: Exposure to international or US communications would be an advantage.
Mindset & Operating DNA:
- Judgment: Handles confidential and reputation-sensitive matters with discretion and sound judgment.
- Hands-on ownership: Proactive and self-directed, personally writing and pitching rather than coordinating, and able to operate independently in a fast-moving environment.
- Quality over volume: Measures success by the relevance and impact of coverage, not the number of mentions.
Non-Fit Profiles
- Have experience limited to internal communications, employee engagement, or employer branding.
- Have primarily worked on paid media, influencer marketing, digital marketing, or performance marketing without meaningful PR ownership.
- Have only coordinated press releases, without directly building journalist relationships or securing earned-media coverage.
- Have agency experience but limited exposure to working in-house and partnering closely with founders or CXOs.
- Have managed social media execution but not corporate narratives, executive positioning, or media relations.
- Prefer a coordination-focused role rather than personally writing, pitching, and driving execution.
What success looks like
- Stronger and more consistent visibility for Bright across relevant media and social platforms.
- Meaningful relationships with key journalists and industry influencers.
- Increased visibility and credibility for Bright’s founders and CXOs.
- Clear and differentiated positioning for Bright within fintech and consumer technology.
What Bright Offers?
- A profitable sub-unicorn with U.S. market scale – liquidity potential at $1–3B valuations.
- Real ownership: You own Bright’s external voice across India and the US.
- Wealth creation: Equity at an inflection stage of scale.
- A data-driven, high-cadence culture that combines consulting rigor with FinTech speed.
- Benefits: Excellent benefits package in line with sector best practice.
