Job details:
An opportunity to shape how education is seen.
We are looking for an experienced digital storytelling and social media professional who can build a strong, distinctive and continuous narrative around our campus and its institutions.
Our campus is full of stories - student achievements, innovation, industry and university partnerships, international exposure, faculty initiatives, events and experiences that shape young people.
We are looking for someone who can turn these stories into visibility, engagement and perception.
The Role
You will be responsible for driving the campus-wide digital storytelling and perception-building agenda, while managing the social media and content team.
Your mandate is not simply to keep our social media handles active. It is to build a compelling digital presence that shapes how our institution is seen, understood and remembered.
Key Responsibilities
1. Build the Campus Narrative
- Translate the institution's vision, strengths and distinctive initiatives into a clear and compelling digital narrative.
- Develop a continuous storytelling approach across our institutions rather than treating activities as isolated posts.
- Identify stories around students, faculty, innovation, achievements, industry engagement, international exposure, campus life and institutional initiatives.
2. Own Event Storytelling
- Develop a Pre → During → Post storytelling plan for key events and initiatives.
- Build anticipation before events, create engagement while they are happening and extend their visibility after the event.
- Move beyond event announcements and photo albums to stories centred on people, ideas, experiences and impact.
- Ensure significant events contribute to the larger institutional narrative.
3. Grow Our Social Media Presence
- Drive significant improvement in reach, views, engagement, followers and organic discovery across relevant platforms.
- Develop platform-specific content strategies and formats.
- Experiment with reels, short-form video, student voices, interviews, campaigns, thought leadership and other engaging formats.
- Use analytics and audience insights to understand what works and continuously improve performance.
4. Lead Content Development
- Build and manage a strong editorial calendar across institutions.
- Create recurring content formats and storytelling franchises that audiences recognise and engage with.
- Work closely with institutional teams to proactively discover and develop stories.
- Set high standards for content quality, tone, visual storytelling and brand consistency.
5. Manage & Develop the Social Media Team
- Lead, mentor and develop the existing social media and content team.
- Build a proactive team that actively looks for stories rather than waiting for departments to provide content.
- Establish clear workflows, content calendars, quality standards and performance expectations.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely access to stories, people and events.
6. Measure Impact
- Track performance across reach, views, engagement, audience growth and content effectiveness.
- Evaluate whether our content is strengthening the perceptions and narratives we seek to build.
- Use data and experimentation to continuously refine the content and social media strategy.
What We Are Looking For
- 6–10 years of meaningful experience in digital content, social media, brand storytelling, media, communications or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in building audiences and creating high-engagement content.
- Strong storytelling and editorial instincts — the ability to identify the story behind the activity.
- A strong understanding of social media platforms, content formats, digital trends and audience behaviour.
- Experience managing or mentoring creative/content teams.
- Ability to think strategically while being comfortable getting into the detail of a campaign, reel, caption or content idea.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A data-aware approach to content — able to understand what is working and why.
- High energy, curiosity, creativity and a willingness to experiment.
Education experience is not essential. We welcome candidates from brands, media, digital agencies, entertainment, start-ups, publishing and other content-led environments.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will not be measured by the number of posts published.
It will be measured by whether:
- More people know us and understand what makes us distinctive.
- Our campus develops a clear and recognisable digital voice.
- Our events and achievements generate visibility well beyond the campus.
- Our social media handles show significant growth in reach, views and engagement.
- Students, parents, universities, industry and the wider community increasingly engage with our stories.
- The quality of our digital presence reflects the ambition and quality of the institution.
Why This Role?
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to build, not just manage.
You will have the opportunity to bring your storytelling and digital expertise into education, work across a vibrant multi-institution campus, and play a meaningful role in shaping how a new generation experiences and perceives education.
If you believe great storytelling can change perception — and want to use your craft to make a meaningful impact in education — we would like to hear from you.
