Job Description – Manager / Senior Manager, Central Transportation Planning & Logistics
Location: Hyderabad
Department: Supply Chain / Logistics
Reporting To: Head – Operations / Supply Chain
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced logistics professional to lead a centralized, technology-driven transportation function across multiple locations.
The role will focus on TMS/LMS management, Central Logistics Control Tower, transportation planning, fleet optimization, vendor management, and dashboards to improve visibility, utilization, service levels, and cost efficiency.
TMS & Central Control Tower
- Lead adoption and effective utilization of TMS/LMS and logistics technology.
- Manage centralized visibility of transportation operations, trips, exceptions, delays, and capacity constraints.
- Drive system improvements, automation, data quality, and integration with ERP, GPS, and other platforms.
- Coordinate with multiple locations and transport partners to ensure smooth operations.
- Establish standardized processes, SLAs, and escalation mechanisms.
Dashboards & Analytics
- Develop centralized dashboards and MIS for transportation performance.
- Track key KPIs such as transport cost, cost per trip/km, vehicle utilization, fleet productivity, turnaround time, empty running, on-time performance, and vendor performance.
- Use data to identify improvement opportunities and support management decision-making.
- Strong experience in Power BI, Excel, or similar analytics tools is preferred.
Transportation Planning & Optimization
- Lead centralized vehicle, route, trip, and capacity planning across multiple locations.
- Optimize fleet utilization and reduce idle time, empty runs, underutilization, and avoidable transport costs.
- Balance service requirements, capacity availability, and transportation cost.
- Proactively identify capacity gaps and plan suitable transportation resources.
Vendor & Fleet Management
- Manage transportation vendors and service partners, including performance, capacity, service quality, and cost.
- Conduct vendor performance reviews and support rate benchmarking.
- Monitor vehicle productivity and ensure the most efficient use of available transportation resources.
Candidate Profile
- 6–12 years of experience in transportation, logistics, fleet management, or supply chain.
- Strong hands-on experience with TMS/LMS and transportation planning systems.
- Experience managing multi-location logistics or a central control tower is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of fleet utilization, route optimization, capacity planning, and transport cost management.
- Advanced Excel/MIS skills; Power BI/dashboarding experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, planning, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, FMCG, 3PL, distribution, or large multi-location operations will be preferred.
