We Are Looking For
Lead SME Electrical & Transition is responsible for ensuring 100% availability, reliability, compliance, and safe operation of all electrical infrastructure within the data center. The role leads transition from Projects to Operations and governs lifecycle management of critical power systems.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage Electrical Infrastructure: Oversee MV, HV, LV systems including Transformers, DG Sets, UPS, STS, PDUs, Busducts, Panels, and Protection Relays ensuring resiliency is intact.
- Lead Transition & Commissioning: Ensuring operations representation in Testing & Commissioning (T&C) during project life cycle. Validate SLDs, load lists, relay settings, and system redundancy prior to Go-Live. Sharing feedback to engineering team on various operations challenges.
- Develop SOP / MOP / EOP: Create and validate all operational documentation aligned with data center design and reliability standards. Define sequence of operations in line with customer requirement and design aspects.
- Reliability & RCA: Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for electrical incidents. Implement preventive and corrective action plans and conduct FMEA where required. Derive MTTR/MTBF
- Service Planning: Develop maintenance strategy, service cycles, and asset lifecycle plans for critical electrical equipment.
- Compliance & Audits: Ensure adherence to CEIG, NBC, Electricity Rules, and ISO standards (20000, 27001, 22301, 45001, 50001). Support external and internal audits.
- Client & Stakeholder Management: Represent organization in technical discussions, resolve technical queries (TQs), NCRs, and manage OEM coordination.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and technically guide electrical O&M teams.
- Budget & Vendor Oversight: Review BOQs, technical specifications, and ensure minimal variation during execution.
- Safety Governance: Ensure strict compliance with LOTO procedures, electrical work permits, and high-voltage safety standards.
- Availability: Provide technical leadership during critical outages and major incident command situations.
- Ensuring handover of documentation by both project team and OEM/SI/vendor completed post IST.
- People management: Support in team recruitment and training ground team on design, technical and process parameters.
Process:
- Lead Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes for electrical domain.
- Ensure transition documentation and as-built drawings are validated.
- Review ETAP studies (Load Flow, Short Circuit, Arc Flash, Harmonics).
- Ensure redundancy validation and load balancing logic.
Safety:
- Ensure adherence to electrical safety standards and high-voltage protocols.
- Conduct periodic safety audits for panels, breakers, and DG areas.
- Ensure strict compliance with permit-to-work systems.
- Monitor risks related to arc flash, fault levels, and switching operations.
Other Requirements
- Travel within the country would be required on need basis to drive projects / operations.
- The nature of profile may require long hours beyond mandated office hours.
- May require working on some weekends and public holidays
Minimum Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech/M Tech in Electrical Engineering
Minimum Years of Experience
- 15 to 20 years overall along with 7-8 years in core electrical, 7-8 years in data center and 7-8 years as team lead
Soft/ Behavioural Skills

- Leading team of transition management from different domain line HVAC, BMS
Technical Skills
- Lead resolution of critical electrical failures including black building events, UPS transfers, DG synchronization issues, breaker trips, and relay mal operations with detailed RCA.
- Strong understanding of HV/MV/LV power distribution, redundancy architecture, and failover sequencing in mission-critical environments.
- Expertise in protection coordination, fault level analysis, arc flash studies, and relay setting validation (ETAP or equivalent tools).
- Deep technical knowledge of Transformers, DG systems (AMF & Sync), UPS, STS, PDUs, Busducts, and switchgear panels.
- Proficient in load balancing, redundancy validation, commissioning tests, IR testing, thermography, and breaker injection testing
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including SLDs, load lists, relay settings, switching procedures, and SOP/MOP/EOP
