Job Purpose:
Lead and own electrical integration and harness engineering for advanced rocket, launch-vehicle and ground systems. This role offers end-to-end technical ownership—from interface definition and harness design to vehicle integration, qualification, EMI/EMC compliance, troubleshooting and final acceptance—while leading cross-functional engineering and technician teams.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Electrical harness architecture, design, routing and integration for rocket, avionics and ground systems.
- Selection and review of aerospace/defence-grade wires, cables, connectors, backshells, terminations, shielding, grounding, bonding and strain relief.
- Preparation and review of wiring diagrams, harness drawings, cable schedules, wire lists, pin-to-pin lists, ICDs and interface matrices.
- EMI/EMC design, MIL-STD-461 testing, shielding/grounding strategies and resolution of conducted/radiated interference issues.
- ESS, AT, QT and environmental qualification activities including vibration, shock, temperature and thermal-vacuum testing.
- Electrical fault isolation, failure investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective actions during integration and test campaigns.
- Vehicle electrical integration, ground-system interfaces, checkout and launch-site/pre-launch readiness activities.
- Configuration control for drawings, BOMs, harness databases, test records, NCRs, deviations/waivers and as-built documentation.
- Cross-functional coordination with Systems, Avionics, GNC, RF, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability, Safety and Test teams.
- Mentoring and technical leadership for engineers, technicians and assembly teams; representation in PDR, CDR, TRR, QR and FRR reviews.
Standards & Compliance
- Working knowledge of aerospace/defence standards such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-1540, SAE AS50881, SAE AS22759, MIL-DTL-38999 and IPC/WHMA-A-620.
- Exposure to NASA, ECSS, customer-specific or Indian Defense requirements is an advantage.
Tools
- Experience with Siemens Capital Harness, Zuken E3. series, CATIA Electrical, Siemens NX Electrical Routing, Arcadia or equivalent tools.
- Cadence OrCAD experience for wiring drawings is mandatory.
- Automated harness test system exposure is a plus.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- 8–15+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, rocket/missile, aircraft, spacecraft or other high-reliability electrical systems.
- Proven capability in electrical integration, harness engineering, EMI/EMC testing, environmental qualification and technical leadership.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Avionics, Aerospace, Instrumentation or a related engineering discipline.
