Career Framework Job Description: Responsible for executing predefined test cases, reporting bugs, and maintaining testing documentation, as well as creating, managing, and executing automated test scripts using various testing tools and frameworks. Designs detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases to ensure thorough testing coverage. Creates test strategies and plans for small- to mid-sized, less complex clients and/or projects that cover a wide range of testing scenarios, ensuring thorough and effective testing processes. Maintains manual and automated test scripts using testing tools and frameworks to streamline the testing process. Performs various testing to identify software defects. Collaborates closely with developers to understand software requirements, identify testability issues, and ensure that testing activities are aligned with development processes. Utilizes manual and automated tools and frameworks to create, update, and manage tests that enhance testing efficiency and accuracy. Analyzes manual and automated test results, diagnosing issues, and providing detailed feedback to the development team for resolution. Evaluates and recommends testing methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance the overall quality assurance process. Stays abreast of latest trends, tools, and technologies in quality assurance to ensure that the testing practices remain cutting-edge and effective. No direct reports. May offer guidance to less experienced colleagues as necessary, with some level of people supervision. Allocates tasks and monitors the quality of work. Recommends process improvements through analysis. Accountable for the completion of assigned deliverables with little day-to-day management. Works with more senior staff when dealing with complex clients and/or projects. Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Often a minimum of 5 to 6 years of relevant experience with the necessary competencies.
Position Summary
This position will join our Quality Assurance team as Lead Associate, Quality Engineer. The candidate will have strong analytical capabilities to clearly understand business and system requirements. We are looking for a detail-oriented candidate that will work closely with the development team to perform manual functional, integration and regression testing and discuss verification protocols and implement detailed API and UI test automation frameworks in a Java environment using Playwright, create automated tests for our SaaS web applications and services. They will lead and mentor other QA Engineers in creating detailed automation tests for UI and APIs. The candidate will also perform functional, regression, and integration testing for SaaS platform changes as needed within an Agile SCRUM team.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate user/software requirement documentation and provide constructive feedback and work with PO and team to discuss any issues encountered during the sprint.
- Create, update, and execute detailed test cases based on requirements for web-based applications across multiple browsers, Java services, reports, and database schema changes.
- Report errors in Jira and track issues to closure including support of defect investigation, validation of defect fixes, and analysis of impact of fixes.
- Collaborate on a Scrum Agile team to ensure team deadlines can be met successfully.
- Research and analyze product features being tested.
- Track, report, and determine priority of project defects.
- Review user interfaces for consistency and functionality and provide feedback to the Scrum team and PO.
- Review all manual test cases and automation test scenarios to ensure coverage and provide constructive and detailed feedback.
- Review and merge pull requests for automation builds.
- Create and maintain documents pertaining to QA processes and procedures for automation testing.
- Develop detailed SQL scripts to load data for automation tests as needed.
- Create and update API automation tests during the sprint to cover the added GET/PUT/POST in the code or any needed API updates using Playwright.
- Create, update, and convert existing UI automation tests during the sprint to cover the new or updated functionality using Playwright.
- Train and mentor other QA Automation Engineers.
- Research new tools, technologies, and testing processes.
- Perform functional, regression, and integration testing for SaaS web applications, services, reports, database schema changes, and related platform updates.
- Estimate QA and automation tasks accurately and complete assigned work on time.
- Develop SQL scripts to select, load, and verify test data for manual and automated test execution.
Minimum Job Requirements
- A BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent job experience.
- Detailed experience with both manual and automation test creation for Web UI applications and APIs.
- 6+ years of hands-on scripting/coding experience in Java automation testing tools - Playwright experience mandatory,
- Strong understanding of testing REST APIs using automation tools.
- Experience in a Continuous Integration/Delivery environment.
- Experience writing SQL and full understanding of queries and stored procedures to load data for automation verification.
- Detail-oriented, excellent analytical skills and good interpersonal skills.
- Troubleshooting automation failures to determine if there is an application/API issue or automation needs to be updated per changed functionality.
- Ability to learn new applications and technologies quickly.
- Experience with Mobile automation.
- Experience using Docker environment.
- AWS experience.
Desired Skillset Requirements
- Experience with Java and REST API automation tools required.
- Experience in Microsoft SQL Server is required.
- Experience with Agile is required.
- API testing software such as Postman, SoapUI, Cypress, etc., experience.
- Experience in performing performance tests.
- Working knowledge of Linux, Atlassian Software Suite Jira, Bamboo, Bitbucket, Git, GitLab, and Docker a plus.
- Experience testing and validating HTML, CSS, and JavaScript across multiple browsers is preferred.
- Experience with financial services domain is a plus.
Engineers work in an open office environment and work a standard 40 hours a week. Overlapping evening hours to collaborate with US team is mandatory. Weekend work may be necessary to meet deadlines or solve specific problems.
