About the Role
We are looking for a Junior Merchandiser to join our apparel export team based in Navi Mumbai. The role involves coordinating the complete order lifecycle from product development and fabric sourcing to sampling, production coordination, invoicing and client communication.
The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of apparel merchandising, fabrics, garment construction, sampling and export processes, along with strong coordination and follow up skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate with clients on product requirements, styles, specifications, timelines and approvals.
• Assist in developing and maintaining tech packs, measurement sheets, BOMs and product specifications.
• Coordinate fabric, trims, accessories and other raw material requirements with suppliers.
• Follow up on fabric ordering, availability, quality and delivery timelines.
• Coordinate sampling and product development with designers, pattern makers, sampling units and production teams.
• Track sample development, fittings, corrections and client approvals.
• Maintain order sheets, T&A timelines, costing and production status.
• Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to ensure orders are completed within agreed timelines.
• Assist with costing, purchase orders, invoices, packing lists and other commercial documentation.
• Coordinate with clients regarding order updates, approvals, changes, dispatches and delivery timelines.
• Support the team in managing export orders from development through final shipment.
• Maintain accurate records of samples, fabrics, approvals, orders and client communication.
• Proactively identify delays or issues and coordinate with the relevant teams to resolve them.
Requirements
• 1 to 3 years of experience in apparel merchandising, garment exports, fashion production or a related role.
• Good understanding of garment manufacturing and apparel production processes.
• Good knowledge of fabrics, trims, garment construction and sampling.
• Familiarity with tech packs, measurements, BOMs, costing and production documentation.
• Strong communication, coordination, follow up and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple styles and orders while working within strict timelines.
• Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Google Sheets and basic office tools.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors in measurements, specifications, quantities and documentation.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multiple teams and vendors.
Preferred
• Prior experience working with international clients or export orders.
• Experience with women's fashion or contemporary apparel.
• Knowledge of export documentation and shipment processes.
• Experience working with sampling units, fabric suppliers, factories and production vendors.
