Role Summary
The Junior Fitter plays a hands-on role in the mechanical assembly, fitting, and installation of pharmaceutical and process equipment manufactured by Prism Industrial Systems PVT LTD. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this role assists in precision fitting of components, sub-assemblies, and finished machines to exacting tolerance and quality standards, while learning correct fitting techniques and shop floor practices under the guidance of Senior Fitters.
The ideal candidate is a fresher with an ITI certification in the Fitter trade or other suitable technical qualification, keen to build a career in fitting, assembly, and fabrication within a process equipment or heavy engineering manufacturing environment — someone with strong fundamentals, a willingness to learn on the job, and the discipline to uphold safety and quality standards on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Fitting & Assembly
- Perform precision fitting, assembly, and alignment of mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and finished pharmaceutical / process equipment as per engineering drawings and specifications.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and bills of material to execute assembly work accurately.
- Carry out fitting of stainless steel vessels, piping, valves, agitators, and associated process equipment components.
- Use precision measuring instruments (vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges) to verify dimensional accuracy and tolerances.
- Coordinate with welders, machinists, and quality inspectors to ensure a seamless handoff between fabrication and assembly stages.
Quality & Process Compliance
- Ensure all assembly work meets GMP, ISO 9001, and customer-specific quality standards applicable to pharmaceutical machinery.
- Identify and report deviations, fitment issues, or material defects to the Production Supervisor and Quality team promptly.
- Maintain accurate work records, inspection checklists, and job cards for each assembly task.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective action for recurring quality or fitment issues.
Learning & Development
- Work under the guidance of Senior Fitters and the Production Supervisor to learn correct fitting techniques, tool usage, and safety practices.
- Follow instructions and complete assigned tasks accurately and within timelines set by the Production Supervisor.
- Actively learn and adopt workmanship standards, discipline, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
Tooling, Equipment & Housekeeping
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and calibration of hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workstation in line with 5S principles.
- Report equipment malfunctions or tooling shortages to the Production Supervisor in a timely manner.
Health & Safety
- Follow all safety protocols, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe lifting / handling practices on the shop floor.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and safety committee initiatives as required.
- Report near-misses, unsafe conditions, or incidents immediately to the Safety Officer / Production Supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience
- Fresher(no prior work experience required) or 1-3 years experienced; .
- Practical or on-the-job training exposure gained during ITI (including internships or workshop training) is an advantage.
- Basic familiarity with stainless steel vessels, piping, and mechanical assemblies gained through training is an advantage.
- Willingness to learn and work to export-quality and GMP standards.
Education
- ITI certification in the Fitter trade, or other suitable technical qualification, is mandatory.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is a plus but not mandatory.
Technical Skills
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and assembly diagrams.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, feeler gauges).
- Working knowledge of hand tools, pneumatic / power tools, and basic rigging / lifting equipment.
- Familiarity with stainless steel fabrication and assembly practices relevant to pharmaceutical equipment.
- Basic understanding of GMP and ISO 9001 documentation requirements as they apply to shop-floor work.

Preferred Attributes
- Prior experience in pharmaceutical machinery, capital equipment, or process engineering manufacturing.
- Familiarity with the Ahmedabad / Gujarat skilled trades labour market and ITI training pathways.
- Willingness to learn and grow into more advanced fitting responsibilities over time.
- Strong learning attitude and commitment to consistent, low-defect assembly work in a quality-driven environment.
