Role Description
To supervise and manage day-to-day housekeeping operations within a hospital, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, infection-control practices, patient safety, and service quality in accordance with hospital protocols and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise housekeeping staff and allocate daily duties across wards, patient rooms, OPD areas, ICUs, laboratories, OT support areas, corridors, public areas, and other hospital facilities.
- Ensure cleaning and disinfection activities are carried out as per hospital SOPs and infection-control standards.
- Monitor housekeeping staff attendance, grooming, discipline, productivity, and performance.
- Conduct regular inspections and ensure all assigned areas meet prescribed hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Ensure correct use, dilution, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Coordinate with nursing, medical, security, engineering, and other hospital departments for smooth operations.
- Ensure proper segregation, collection, and handling of hospital waste as per applicable biomedical-waste procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping checklists, inspection reports, attendance records, material consumption reports, and other operational documentation.
- Train and brief staff on cleaning procedures, infection prevention, PPE, chemical safety, fire safety, and patient-area protocols.
- Respond promptly to complaints and service requests and ensure corrective action within defined timelines.
- Monitor availability and consumption of housekeeping chemicals, consumables, linen, PPE, and other materials.
- Ensure equipment such as scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, mops, trolleys, and other housekeeping tools are properly maintained.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks/briefings and communicate operational priorities to the team.
- Support audits and inspections conducted by the hospital, client, or internal quality team.
- Report incidents, damages, safety concerns, and operational issues to the Housekeeping/Facility Manager.
- Ensure confidentiality, professional conduct, and respectful interaction with patients, attendants, visitors, and hospital staff.
Qualification: Graduate in any discipline; Diploma/Certification in Housekeeping, Facility Management, Hospitality, or a related field will be an added advantage.
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in housekeeping operations, preferably in a hospital/healthcare, hotel, facility management, or large institutional environment, with proven experience in supervising housekeeping teams and maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
