The Opportunity
We are looking for a compassionate, emotionally mature and responsible House Parent to become an integral part of our residential community.
At Freedom Land, we believe that a residential house should be more than a place where children sleep. It should feel like a home.
The House Parent is one of the most important adults in a residential child's daily life and is expected to provide the care, warmth, guidance, structure and practical support that children need to feel secure and thrive.
The role involves:
• Building warm, trusting and respectful relationships with children
• Being a sympathetic ear and a steady source of emotional support
• Supporting children through homesickness, friendships, conflicts, disappointments and everyday challenges
• Knowing children well enough to notice when something has changed
• Supporting their personal lives—from laundry, grooming and haircuts to clothing, belongings, hygiene and daily routines
• Supervising meals and supporting healthy eating and nutrition
• Supervising tuck/snack time
• Coordinating closely with the Wellness Centre regarding children's health and recovery
• Following authorised protocols for medication and medical care
• Visiting/checking with the Wellness Centre and remaining updated on children who are unwell
• Supporting children during medical appointments and recovery
• Ensuring the House remains clean, safe, hygienic, peaceful and welcoming
• Coordinating and supervising housekeeping/support staff assigned to the House
• Working closely with Administration on maintenance, supplies and the smooth running of the residential facility
• Collaborating with House Warden, Class pillars, Coordinators, Counsellors, Wellness Centre and academic teams
• Supporting study, wake-up, bedtime and other residential routines
• Identifying emotional, behavioural, health or safeguarding concerns and ensuring appropriate referral/escalation
• Building a House culture based on empathy, responsibility, awareness, respect and community
• Helping children gradually become more independent, responsible and self-aware
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for someone who brings both warmth and boundaries, compassion and responsibility, care and accountability.
Essential:
• Graduate in any discipline
• Minimum 3 years of full-time experience working with children/adolescents in a reputed residential or boarding school or comparable residential educational setting
• Experience in pastoral care, student welfare or residential supervision
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassion, patience and emotional maturity
• Ability to remain calm and grounded in challenging situations
• Willingness to work in a residential school environment, including evenings, weekends and on-call responsibilities
• Understanding of child safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries
Desirable:
• Experience coordinating medical follow-up and working with a Wellness/Medical Centre
• Experience managing housekeeping, laundry, linen and residential support services
• Training in child safeguarding, adolescent development, mental health or pastoral care
