Role Description The Histopathologist will provide accurate and timely diagnostic services through the examination of tissue and cytology specimens, including grossing, microscopic evaluation, and reporting. Responsibilities include performing intraoperative consultations (such as frozen sections), correlating histopathology findings with clinical and radiological data, and participating in multidisciplinary case discussions and tumor boards. The role involves close collaboration with surgeons, oncologists, and other specialists, ensuring clear communication of pathology findings and contributing to treatment planning. The Histopathologist will also participate in quality assurance activities, internal audits, and adherence to laboratory accreditation standards, as well as support DNB teaching, mentoring, and departmental research initiatives. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Pune.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MBBS) with MD/DNB in Pathology from a recognized institution, with formal training in Histopathology.
- Proficiency in surgical pathology, cytopathology, and biopsy interpretation, including grossing techniques and microscopic diagnosis.
- Experience with intraoperative consultations (frozen sections), immunohistochemistry, and relevant ancillary diagnostic techniques.
- Strong report-writing skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex findings clearly to clinical teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality standards, laboratory safety protocols, and continuous improvement in diagnostic accuracy.
- Interest or experience in academic activities such as teaching, case presentations, and participation in clinical research or audits.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, manage workload efficiently, and maintain professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Prior experience in a tertiary care or oncology-focused setting is an advantage; familiarity with NABL or similar accreditation norms is desirable.
