JOB DESCRIPTION – HEAD – PRODUCTION
Location: GTZ (India) Pvt. Ltd. Factory, Khariberia, Bishnupur, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal
Department: Production / Manufacturing
Reporting To: Works Manager / MD / Director
Experience: 12–18+ years in Chemical/Process Manufacturing, including 4–5 years in Production Manager/Head role
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering or relevant discipline
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on and result-oriented Head – Production to lead production planning and execution, ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
· Plan and execute daily, monthly and annual production in line with sales requirements, capacity and material availability.
· Lead batch manufacturing and ensure adherence to process parameters, SOPs and quality specifications.
· Improve yield, productivity, OEE, cycle time and equipment utilization while reducing process losses and wastage.
· Manage production manpower, shifts, supervisors, chemists, operators and contract workforce.
· Monitor raw-material consumption, production cost, rework, rejection and off-specification batches.
· Coordinate with QA/QC, R&D, Maintenance, EHS, Purchase, Stores, Sales and Dispatch.
· Drive process trials, scale-up, product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Ensure chemical safety, PPE, housekeeping, SOP compliance and production documentation.
· Investigate production deviations and implement effective CAPA.
· Prepare and review production MIS and KPIs covering output, yield, consumption, downtime, manpower and cost.
· Lead and develop the production team and ensure timely production to support customer deliveries.
Candidate Profile
· 12–18+ years of experience in chemical/process manufacturing.
· Minimum 4–5 years in a Production Manager/Head or equivalent leadership role.
· Strong practical knowledge of chemical batch manufacturing and process operations.
· Experience in specialty chemicals, surface-treatment chemicals, polymers, emulsions or allied industries preferred.
· Strong understanding of production planning, process control, yield, OEE and cost reduction.
· Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, GMP/GLP and chemical safety will be an advantage.
· Strong leadership, troubleshooting, communication and decision-making skills.
