Our client is seeking a Head, Credit Risk Review, Specialised Finance in the Banking division.

Job Description:
Job Summary:
- Lead independent, technical, and forward-looking assessments of the credit quality, risk governance, and control environment across the Group's global Specialized Finance portfolio.
- Exercise independent challenge and escalation authority under the Credit Risk Review mandate while maintaining clear separation from first-line credit and business decision-making.
- Conduct independent reviews that drive strategic and business outcomes, including decisions on portfolio growth, risk appetite, sector and country concentrations, capital deployment, hold levels, and distribution strategy.
- Identify emerging and systemic risks, influence improvements in underwriting, structuring, and portfolio management, and ensure timely remediation of material weaknesses.
- Provide senior management, risk committees, and regulators with independent assurance on underwriting, structuring, portfolio quality, risk appetite alignment, lifecycle monitoring, and problem-credit management.
- Perform Business Credit Application and portfolio reviews across Project Finance, Sponsor Finance, Private Credit, Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Infrastructure & Power, Natural Resources, Transportation (Shipping/Aviation), Export Finance, Structured Asset Finance, and other asset-backed or cash-flow-based lending.
- Focus on Credit Risk and its interaction with ESG, climate, and country risks.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy:
Maintain awareness of the Group's Specialized Finance strategy and assess whether growth priorities, sector and country concentrations, tenor, leverage, distribution assumptions and originate-to-distribute activity remain aligned with approved risk appetite. Specifically the role requires:
- Served as the senior independent reviewer for Specialized Finance, providing oversight and escalation of key credit and portfolio risks.
- Advised leadership on portfolio strategy, risk appetite, growth priorities, capital deployment, and concentration limits.
- Identified emerging and systemic risks across sectors and regions, recommending risk mitigation and control enhancements.
- Assessed portfolio sustainability under stressed conditions, balancing risk, return, capital, and concentration exposures.
- Independently challenged underwriting, portfolio management, and strategic decisions to ensure compliance with approved risk appetite.
- Monitored portfolio vulnerabilities and concentrations, ensuring timely identification and remediation of material risks.
Business:
- Provided strategic oversight of Specialized Finance portfolios, aligning growth, capital allocation, sustainability objectives, and distribution strategies with risk appetite.
- Assessed macroeconomic, sector, sovereign, commodity, and market risks impacting portfolio performance and resilience.
- Evaluated portfolio exposures to concentration, refinancing, interest rate, inflation, and other emerging risk factors through forward-looking reviews.
- Led independent assessment of complex project and structured finance transactions, including cash flow analysis, ESG/climate risks, and distressed assets.
- Translated portfolio and thematic review findings into strategic recommendations to enhance underwriting, structuring, and portfolio management practices.
- Influenced senior stakeholders to strengthen credit governance, risk controls, risk appetite adherence, and portfolio resilience through effective challenge and remediation oversight.
Processes:
- Led Specialized Finance credit reviews, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and governance standards.
- Enhanced review methodologies, portfolio analytics, and risk assessment frameworks.
- Conducted end-to-end credit reviews, including transaction assessment, model validation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Developed risk-based review programs covering high-risk sectors, jurisdictions, refinancing risks, and portfolio concentrations.
- Evaluated complex financing structures and key legal, ESG, technical, valuation, and financial risks.
- Identified and escalated material underwriting, monitoring, concentration, and control weaknesses, driving timely remediation.
Risk Management:
- Conducted end-to-end reviews of Specialized Finance transactions, assessing sponsor strength, project viability, leverage, cash flows, covenants, and refinancing risk.
- Performed stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate repayment capacity, credit quality, and recovery outcomes.
- Reviewed funding structures, covenant compliance, drawdown controls, reserve adequacy, and sponsor support arrangements.
- Assessed risk ratings, expected loss, collateral valuations, and recovery assumptions for accuracy and appropriateness.
- Evaluated distressed credits, restructuring strategies, refinancing options, and recovery plans.
- Identified, challenged, and escalated material credit and structural risks, driving effective risk mitigation and remediation.
Governance:
- Assess the effectiveness of global, regional and country governance for Specialized Finance, including sector oversight, delegated authorities, credit committee challenge, exception governance, portfolio limits, concentration monitoring, model governance and watchlist escalation.
- Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
- Deliver effective governance through credible challenge of senior executives on complex Specialized Finance judgements and maintain open, cooperative engagement with relevant regulators.
