The role will be to deputise the oversight of Reckitt’s global environmental reporting team across India and UK. The team tracks performance against Reckitt’s Env goals, managing key elements of internal/external communication and investor rating submissions, and generally supporting our sites around the globe to monitor and improve their environmental performance through data-analysis including eco-efficiency action – energy, water, waste, climate impact etc.
The three key elements of the role are (i) supervisory with respect to accuracy of reporting across the global team, (ii) project & stakeholder management skills across a range of internal stakeholders, data-owners and team leads, thereby ensuring the timely delivery of accurate data from global business units and monitoring performance towards Reckitt external environment targets. (iii) Related to this, is responsibility for maintaining/developing the systems behind data – specifically Reckitt’s Enablon database (Used to collect and analysis our Supply sites’ utility and carbon data, and our bespoke Glidepath Tool used to project future performance towards Reckitt’s public targets based on sites’
We’re looking for a well-organised, data-oriented team leader, experienced in coordinating a global performance and analysis function, with an understanding of how skilful data management can underpin strategy-setting, executive engagement and site accountability. Ideally, familiar with the environmental agenda (e.g. Carbon and wider Env reporting, SASB, CDP, DJSI and other stakeholder metrics expectations etc), we need a data analytics leader to oversee our Env analytics teams support of our 50+ manufacturing sites globally, to ensure we better monitor, record and improve performance on the essentials – climate, water, energy, waste etc.
The role oversees the systems-development, data-analysis, and reporting of global, regional & site-based energy, waste, water metrics and other environmental key performance indicators (KPI’s) that measure our progress toward publicly declared targets. This includes:
- Planning and project management - Above all the role requires strong data analytics, project and time-management leadership. It involves responding to dynamic data enquiries from Reckitt’s senior leadership tier, overseeing the delivery of monthly & quarterly reports, as well as supporting our annual report published in Q2 each year, and its associated data assurance by leading external accreditors. In addition to this, the Env reporting team supports and polices sites’ data entries into our systems, aids their training on the same, and fields sites’ data enquiries.
- Data systems management and analysis – The Global Environment Data Manager will support the Global Head of Environment as the team-lead on the interpretation and summarising of site, BU and regional environmental performance reporting, forecasting and insights, in conjunction with the regional environmental managers. Leading all Reckitt’s environmental data, the role requires robust environmental data collection, reporting and analytical skills, together with proficiency in Sustainability data management software. Preference will be given to Enablon specialists.
- Sustainability & EHS Network development – Effective and timely communication is key within Reckitt together with developing robust networks, building relationships, (often virtually), to provide on-going site support to enhance understand and drive performance opportunities.
- Presentation skills – Data enquiries are part of the daily routine and come our leadership teams across our Global Business Units. A key role is therefore presenting environmental performance of our sites to a range of stakeholders across the business, often at senior vice-president level and upwards. This will involve utilizing and developing data communications software such as Power BI.
- Training – From time to time, both the role and their subordinates may also be required to provide training to engineers and EHS professionals across our sites in Enablon, Glidepath Tool either in person, or via e-learning and webinar.
- (Reporting) Stakeholder liaison – This role will require leading the analyst on supporting liaison with key regional stakeholders, in the financial, SRI, NGO and reporting best practice communities, to bring reporting intelligence back into the environment leadership team.
General sustainability support – this role will largely concentrate on the elements above, but another responsibility within this position in support to the wider Global Environment Team. This offers the opportunity of exposure to other aspects of corporate responsibility – everything from regulatory tracking and preparedness, audit support and strategy-setting, to specific events and awareness initiatives
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major end results the role will achieve)
Planning & Project Management
- Good organisational and planning skills are essential. Support the collection of all Reckitt’s environmental data via various internal management systems.
- Plan and schedule monthly and quarterly reporting to the senior leadership
- Support the provision of regular monthly/quarterly updates to regional and global management on sites’ environmental performance status related to all long-term performance targets detailed in our reports
Support the Global Head of Environment in devising & implementing new environmental targets and programmes to drive continual improvement in Reckitt operational environmental performance.
Reporting, Presentation & Communication skills
- Lead and conduct internal data assurance and manage the external assurance process for environmental data included in the Reckitt annual report including clarification/ review of the findings (in line with external reporting requirements including GRI, GHG Protocol, SASB, CDP & DJSI)
- Under the oversight of the Global Head of Environment, lead in the provision of regular monthly and quarterly reports and updates to the sustainability network and Senior Leadership teams on environmental compliance and performance status
- Developing clear, professional presentation-ware for information provision across Reckitt. Strong familiarity with PowerPoint and equivalent
- Delivering presentations to everyone from site-colleagues to executive level. Provide insights and performance to Reckitt senior leadership to help drive improvements
- Support new starters and newly acquired sites aligning with Reckitt’s environmental information systems and reporting framework.
- Support to comm’s colleagues on sustainability performance, (e.g. via articles and social media messaging).
Data Systems and Analysis Skills
- You will be the Reckitt lead across our key data management & comm’s tools. These include our licensed Enablon system. Our bespoke Glidepath Tool tracking future projections, and Power BI, Rubi and other reporting platforms. Leadership includes coordination with our regional environmental leads and direct site interactions, provide environmental insights and performance to Reckitt senior leadership to help drive improvements, and collaboration with the Global Head of Environment on direction of the above.
- You’ll have a proven track-record on data management and interpretation over a 5+ year period, including, conducting data analysis and forecasting, and work with key people to drive change, and overseeing a wider data management team. Ideally in an area of sustainability, but this is NOT essential. Experienced data analytics leadership is.
- Develop techniques to allow retrospective comparisons of historically diverging performance data sets base on previous denominators (e.g. consumer units v’s tonnages)
- Familiar with databases & data management software(s) – Enablon, Power BI, Excel, SAP, etc.
Support to Other Teams
- A maximum of 5% of the time will be spent supporting colleagues in the Human Rights, Environment and H&S team on Enablon support, including systems change control, campaign launches, dashboard development etc, Enablon 3rd party support and ad hoc training.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in the accounting/data analytics arena.
- Strong project leadership experience with proven analytical abilities and attention to detail
- Knowledge of data-reporting software solutions (Enablon, SAP, Ariba, Intertek, Excel etc).
- Environmental experience on the following is an advantage, but not essential: GRI, SASB & CDP reporting, GHG Protocol Scope 1 and Scope 2 accounting. Plus, familiarity with the wider external reporting landscape (e.g. FTSE, DJSI, integrated reporting, TCFD implementation, SGDs etc).
- Understanding of the FMCG or Healthcare sector is preferred, although again not essential.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Be willing to travel
