Main Purpose:
As the Global Hosting Operations Lead, you will be responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of our global hosting environment, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of all hosted infrastructure. This key role includes overseeing the operations delivered by a managed service provider, ensuring that hosting services (on-premises, hybrid, and cloud) meet defined SLAs, security standards, and business requirements.
Education:
- Academic Level: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Technical Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and Nutanix Acropolis (AHV). Experience with Hyper-V is a plus.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure, including virtual machines, storage, backup, networking, governance, and cost optimization. Familiarity with hybrid cloud setups and cloud migration strategies.
- Solid knowledge of physical server hardware, SAN/NAS storage systems, power and cooling, rack management, and server room access control.
- Experience with enterprise backup tools (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Azure Backup), disaster recovery design, and execution.
- Proficiency with infrastructure monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds. Ability to interpret performance metrics and implement corrective actions.
- Understanding of IT security principles, including patching, antivirus, access controls, and infrastructure hardening. Familiarity with compliance standards such as ISO 27001 and GDPR.
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts (VLANs, firewalls, load balancers) as they relate to hosting environments and cloud connectivity.
- Familiarity with PowerShell, Python, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Azure Resource Manager) is a plus for driving operational efficiency.
Management & communication Skills
- Experience in managing relationships with MSP, vendors and suppliers.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, finance, senior management).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner to senior management and other stakeholders.
Relevant Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in IT infrastructure roles, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or lead engineer position overseeing global or regional hosting environments.
- Demonstrated experience working with or managing outsourced service delivery partners. Proven ability to define SLAs, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement.
- Hands-on experience managing enterprise-grade data centers and hybrid environments, including virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Nutanix) and cloud services (especially Microsoft Azure).
- Strong operational background in ITIL-based environments, including leading major incident resolution, root cause analysis, and implementing change management best practices. ITIL certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with documentation, training, and support processes necessary for a smooth handover.
