Job details:
Experience: 4+ Years
Employment Type: Contract / Consulting
We are looking for an experienced FPGA Consultant with strong hands-on expertise in PCIe Gen5, high-speed data paths, DMA, RTL design, and FPGA hardware bring-up.
The consultant will work on designing, implementing, verifying, and optimizing a high-throughput FPGA data path connecting a PCIe Gen5 x16 host interface to a proprietary downstream digital interface.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-throughput FPGA solutions using Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL.
- Implement and optimize PCIe Gen5 x16 endpoint functionality.
- Develop DMA, buffering, flow control, and high-speed data-transfer architectures.
- Perform FPGA synthesis, implementation, timing analysis, constraints, and timing closure.
- Handle CDC, reset-domain design, clocking, and synchronization.
- Perform RTL simulation, verification, hardware bring-up, debugging, and performance validation.
- Measure and validate PCIe/DMA throughput on actual hardware.
- Support Linux driver, DMA software, host interface, and performance-monitoring integration.
- Collaborate with hardware, embedded software, and system engineering teams.
Required Skills
- 4+ years of hands-on FPGA development experience.
- Proven experience with PCIe Gen5, preferably PCIe Gen5 x16 on actual FPGA hardware.
- Strong RTL design experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL.
- Hands-on experience with AMD/Xilinx Versal and/or Intel/Altera Agilex platforms.
- Experience with Vivado/Vitis, Quartus, or equivalent FPGA tools.
- Strong knowledge of DMA, high-speed data paths, CDC, clock management, and timing closure.
- Hands-on experience with FPGA board bring-up, hardware debugging, and laboratory testing.
- Experience with FPGA verification/simulation tools such as Questa/ModelSim.
- Experience with Linux drivers and DMA software integration.
- Strong understanding of digital electronics and computer architecture.
Preferred Experience
- AMD/Xilinx Versal Premium platforms.
- Intel/Altera Agilex 7 M-Series.
- PCIe Gen5 x16 endpoint and DMA implementations.
- AXI and high-speed FPGA interconnect architectures.
- High-speed data acquisition/processing systems.
- FPGA-based SoC/embedded systems.
- Traffic generators, diagnostic tools, performance benchmarking, and automated build/test environments.
Ideal Candidate
Candidates should be able to demonstrate 2–3 closely relevant FPGA projects, including details of the FPGA platform, PCIe generation/lane count, DMA architecture, measured hardware throughput, timing-closure experience, and hardware bring-up/debugging.
Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
This is a hands-on consulting engagement. Candidates with demonstrated PCIe Gen5 hardware implementation and high-throughput DMA experience will be strongly preferred.
Interested candidates can share their updated resume along with details of relevant PCIe Gen5 FPGA projects and availability.
