Founding Full-Stack Mobile App Engineer — Build Backend APIs + Frontend | AI-First

About Tobbo
Tobbo is building a new consumer social product from the ground up.
We’re looking for a hands-on Founding Full-Stack Mobile App Engineer who can take end-to-end technical ownership of building the product — from backend architecture and APIs to mobile frontend, infrastructure and production deployment.
This is not a frontend-only role. You should be comfortable building the backend and APIs yourself, not just integrating APIs developed by someone else.
What You’ll Build
- Design and build the backend and APIs — not just integrate existing APIs.
- Design databases, data models, authentication, authorization and core application logic.
- Build the mobile frontend for iOS and Android using Flutter or React Native.
- Turn product designs and user flows into fast, polished and responsive mobile experiences.
- Build feeds, user interactions, notifications, real-time functionality and other consumer-social features.
- Integrate frontend, backend, databases, Firebase, storage, analytics and third-party services.
- Make technical and architectural decisions around scalability, performance, security and reliability.
- Build real-time systems using WebSockets or similar technologies where required.
- Set up cloud infrastructure and production environments.
- Implement testing, logging, monitoring and error handling.
- Set up and maintain CI/CD.
- Deploy and maintain the application in production.
- Handle Google Play Store and Apple App Store releases.
- Debug and resolve production issues independently.
- Work directly with the founder and product team to turn product requirements into shipped features.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience with Flutter or React Native.
- Strong mobile frontend development and application architecture skills.
- Proven ability to design and build backend systems and APIs using Node.js/Express, FastAPI, Django, Spring Boot or equivalent technologies.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs and backend business logic.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB or similar databases.
- Strong understanding of database design and data modelling.
- Experience with authentication, authorization and API security.
- Experience with Firebase, push notifications and analytics.
- Understanding of WebSockets, real-time systems, caching and background/asynchronous processing.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure or equivalent cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Git, Docker and CI/CD.
- Experience shipping and maintaining production mobile applications.
- Strong debugging, system-design and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to independently make technical and architectural decisions and take end-to-end ownership of the product.

We actively use modern AI development tools and want an engineer who knows how to use Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or similar tools to research, architect, code, test, debug and ship significantly faster.
AI should accelerate your engineering capability — not replace it.
You should independently understand backend architecture, APIs, databases, frontend development, security, deployment and production systems, and be capable of reviewing, debugging and validating AI-generated solutions before shipping them.
