Function: Revenue, Supplier Relations & Commercial Strategy
Level: Junior–Mid (1–2 years experience) |
Reports To: Founder / CXO
About the Role
We are looking for a sharp, data-driven and commercially minded professional to join our Founder's Team as a Take Rate Specialist. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role at the intersection of revenue analytics, supplier commissions, supplier relations and commercial strategy. You will work directly with the founding team to identify revenue leakage, optimize supplier commissions, strengthen supplier relationships and unlock new commercial opportunities across our supplier and partner ecosystem.
This is not a back-office role. You will be expected to get hands-on with data, engage directly with suppliers, support and drive negotiations, solve commercial and operational issues, and make things happen.
What You'll Do
Revenue & Supplier Commission Analysis
- Deep-dive into historical spend patterns, financial reports, transaction data and supplier performance to identify where supplier commission revenue is being missed.
- Build and maintain dashboards and models that surface supplier commission trends, anomalies and optimization opportunities.
- Identify gaps in deal-code application and commercial-rule implementation; flag instances where the correct codes or terms are not being applied and work cross-functionally to fix them.
- Analyze inventory utilization, supplier mix and underperforming categories or routes to identify
- opportunities for revenue and margin improvement.
- Benchmark supplier commissions against industry norms, competitive data and internal performance to identify opportunities to improve commercial outcomes.
Supplier Relations & Commercial Management
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers and partners, acting as a commercial and analytical point of contact.
- Track supplier performance, commercial commitments, commission structures, rebates and other
- agreed terms to ensure delivery against expectations.
- Proactively identify supplier issues, revenue leakage, service gaps and commercial opportunities, and drive them to resolution.
- Maintain supplier performance scorecards and use data to identify suppliers that are performing well, require intervention or should be renegotiated or replaced.
- Work closely with internal teams and suppliers to improve content, inventory availability, pricing,
- commercial terms and overall supplier performance.
Supplier Strategy and Negotiation
- Research and map potential new supplier and partner relationships that can deliver better commission structures, stronger economics or improved content and inventory.
- Prepare supplier proposals, comparison matrices, business cases and negotiation briefs to support commercial discussions.
- Lead or co-lead supplier calls and negotiations, working to improve commission rates, rebate structures and other commercial terms.
- Support the founding team in evaluating supplier opportunities and making data-backed commercial decisions.
Insight & Reporting
- Translate complex data findings into clear, concise recommendations for the founding team and relevant business stakeholders.
- Proactively flag revenue risks, supplier risks and commercial opportunities — do not wait to be asked.
- Prepare regular supplier commission and supplier performance reports, highlighting trends, issues, opportunities and actionable next steps.
- Develop concise executive-level updates that make commercial performance easy to understand and act upon.
Who You Are
Must-Have
- MBA and/or Engineering degree from a top-tier college or university.
- 1–2 years of work experience in consulting, investment banking, fintech, e-commerce, travel, revenue operations, commercial strategy or a high-growth startup.
- Strong analytical mindset — you enjoy digging into numbers, spotting patterns and connecting dots others miss.
- Proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets; exposure to SQL or BI tools such as Tableau, Metabase or Looker is a strong plus.
- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and data storytelling.
- Comfortable interacting with suppliers and internal stakeholders and owning end-to-end tasks with minimal hand-holding.
- High ownership mentality, bias for action and willingness to work hands-on in a fast-moving
- environment.
Good to Have
- Prior exposure to revenue operations, supplier commission management, commercial finance or
- marketplace economics.
- Experience with supplier, vendor or partnership management.
- Familiarity with commission structures, rebates, commercial contracts or marketplace economics.
- Experience working with transaction-level data or building commercial dashboards.
- Ability to juggle multiple workstreams without dropping the ball.
What Success Looks Like
- Supplier commission leakage is identified quickly and reduced through data, process improvements and supplier action.
- Supplier relationships become more structured, proactive and commercially productive.
- Supplier performance and commercial terms are consistently tracked and improved.
- The founding team has clear, reliable visibility into supplier commission performance and commercial opportunities.
- New supplier opportunities are evaluated rigorously and converted into measurable revenue or margin improvement.
Why Join
- Direct access to the founding team — your work will be seen, discussed and acted upon quickly.
- A steep learning curve across revenue, supplier relations, analytics, negotiations and commercial
- strategy.
- An opportunity to work directly with external suppliers while developing strong business and negotiation skills.
- A clear path to grow into a senior revenue, supplier strategy, commercial or business strategy role.
- The opportunity to make a measurable, visible impact on company revenue from day one.
Candidates from top-tier management institutions with a strong analytical foundation, commercial
curiosity and the hunger to move fast are strongly encouraged to apply.
