ROLE SUMMARY
The role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of accounts, effective cash
management, timely month-end closing, audit compliance and cost control. The candidate will play a key role in
supporting management with reliable financial information and actionable insights.
1. Financial Reporting
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements — Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and
Cash Flow — in accordance with applicable accounting standards (Ind AS / IFRS).
• Compile the monthly MIS pack, including variance analysis against budget and prior periods, with clear narrative
commentary for management.
• Ensure all disclosures, notes to accounts and schedules are complete, accurate and compliant with statutory and
regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate the consolidation of financials across entities, divisions or cost centres where applicable.
• Support management reporting, board packs and investor / lender reporting requirements.
2. General Ledger & Accounting
• Perform periodic scrutiny of general ledger accounts to ensure correct classification, completeness and accuracy of
entries.
• Review and approve journal entries, accruals, provisions and prepaid amortisations before posting.
• Identify, investigate and resolve unusual, ageing or unreconciled ledger balances on a timely basis.
• Maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts and enforce consistent accounting treatment across transactions.
• Ensure inter-company transactions are properly recorded, reconciled and eliminated on consolidation.
3. Balance Sheet Substantiation
• Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all asset and liability accounts, ensuring every balance
is fully supported by underlying schedules.
• Maintain a balance sheet substantiation file with clear ownership, sign-offs and supporting documentation for each
account.
• Age and follow up on open reconciling items, driving them to timely resolution and escalating risks where required.
• Review fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules, provisions, accruals and prepayment schedules for accuracy.
• Ensure the balance sheet is ‘clean’ and audit-ready at each reporting cut-off.
4. Treasury & Cash Flow Management
• Manage day-to-day cash and bank operations, ensuring adequate liquidity to meet operational and financial
obligations.
• Prepare short-term and rolling cash-flow forecasts and monitor actuals against forecast.
• Oversee banking relationships, fund transfers, working capital facilities and fixed deposit / investment placements.
• Monitor debtor collections and creditor payments to optimise the working capital cycle.
• Ensure compliance with banking covenants, loan repayment schedules and interest servicing.
• Manage foreign exchange exposure and hedging where applicable.
5. Month-End Closing
• Own and drive the month-end close calendar, ensuring the books are closed accurately and within agreed timelines.
• Coordinate close activities across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets and general ledger.
• Ensure all accruals, provisions, prepayments, depreciation and recurring entries are booked and reviewed.
• Complete key account reconciliations and resolve open items before the close is finalised.
• Continuously improve close processes to reduce cycle time and enhance accuracy.
6. Audit & Compliance
• Serve as the primary point of contact for statutory, internal, tax and management audits.
• Prepare and review audit schedules, lead schedules and requested documentation (PBC lists).
• Respond to auditor queries, resolve observations and implement agreed corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and support strengthening of the control environment.
• Coordinate timely completion of the annual statutory audit and finalisation of accounts.
7. Cost Control
• Monitor and control operating costs against approved budgets, highlighting overruns and driving corrective action.
• Perform cost analysis, identify savings opportunities and support cost-optimisation initiatives.
• Review and approve expenses in line with the delegation of authority and company policy.
• Partner with department heads on budgeting, forecasting and cost accountability.
• Develop and track cost-related KPIs and provide actionable insights to management.
