AI Finance Lead

About The Role
We are looking for a sharp, forward-thinking AI Finance candidate. This is not a bookkeeping role, we need someone who deeply understands the financial landscape, can read and interpret P&L statements and balance sheets, and is equally excited about leveraging Artificial Intelligence to transform how finance functions operate.
You will be the internal champion for AI-led finance transformation, starting by building a robust pilot within the Finance function and then scaling learnings across other internal business units. Key Responsibilities
Finance Strategy & Oversight
- Interpret and analyse P&L statements, balance sheets, and financial reports to provide strategic insights to leadership.
- Monitor financial health indicators, cash flow trends, and key performance metrics across the organisation.
- Partner with business units to translate financial data into actionable strategy — not to record transactions, but to drive decisions.
- Provide forward-looking financial commentary, scenario modelling, and variance analysis.
AI Tools & Finance Transformation
- Identify, evaluate, and implement AI tools relevant to finance — including forecasting, anomaly detection, spend analytics, and FP&A automation.
- Map current finance workflows and proactively identify use cases where AI can drive efficiency, accuracy, or insight.
- Build and own the Finance AI Transformation Roadmap, from use-case prioritisation through to pilot execution and outcomes tracking.
- Stay current on AI certifications, emerging tools, and best practices in the financial services and FinTech space.
Pilot & Scale
- Lead the end-to-end AI pilot within the Finance function, define KPIs, manage implementation, measure ROI, and iterate.
- Document learnings and develop a scalable playbook for rolling out AI transformation to other internal functions (HR, Operations, Sales, etc.).
- Act as the internal AI Finance evangelist ,run awareness sessions, demonstrate tools, and bring teams along on the journey.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the founding team, CFO (or equivalent), and department heads to align on financial priorities.
- Collaborate with tech and product teams to integrate AI finance solutions into existing infrastructure.
- Communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders on AI initiatives and financial performance.
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves
- Strong conceptual understanding of financial statements — P&L, balance sheet, cash flow — and the story they tell.
- AI certification in Finance (e.g. Wharton Online AI for Business, CFO AI Certification, AICPA Digital Finance credentials, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated knowledge of AI tools applicable to finance: forecasting tools, LLM-based analytics, spend intelligence platforms, or similar.
- Experience identifying AI use cases and translating them into practical, business-ready solutions.
- Ability to build a structured transformation roadmap with clear milestones, success metrics, and stakeholder buy-in.
- A startup mindset, comfortable with ambiguity, fast-paced change, and wearing multiple hats.
- Good t communication and storytelling skills, able to present complex financial and AI concepts clearly.
Nice-to-Haves
- Prior experience in a FinTech, Financial Services, or high-growth startup environment.
- Exposure to FP&A tools
- Experience running internal transformation or change management programmes.
- Familiarity with Python, SQL, or data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau) is a plus — not mandatory.
What This Role Is Not
To be clear — this is not an accounting or bookkeeping position. You will not be recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, or managing day-to-day financial operations. We have that covered. We need someone who understands numbers and uses them — combined with AI — to drive transformation.
