Job details:
One filmmaker. Six months. A school being born.
I'm building a school. And I've decided to document the journey.
For that, I'm hiring one person — a filmmaker who will follow me and my team around, camera in hand, through the most intense stretch of this build: from now until the school opens its doors in April 2027.
This is an initial fixed-term engagement. If the work is good and the fit is right, it becomes something much bigger — the permanent, in-house media wing of the school, founded and led by you.
This is not a corporate videographer job. This is a documentary in real time. We are building a new international school in Jaipur from the ground up — and everything that can be shared publicly, will be. The meetings where we decide how to position the school. The trips to choose furniture. The conversations with our founding principal. The setbacks, the second-guessing, the site visits at 8 AM. You'll be in the room for all of it, and your job is to turn it into episodes people genuinely want to watch.
Think of the creators who built brands by documenting the build itself — that's the model. Except our product is a school, and the story ends with real children walking through real gates.
What you'll actually do
- Shadow the founder and core team — shoots are driven by what's happening, not a calendar
- Shoot run-and-gun: handheld, natural light, wireless mics, no setup time, never in the way
- Edit weekly YouTube episodes with a real story spine — plus Reels/Shorts cut from them
- Manage the raw archive: everything tagged, transcribed, retrievable (some of today's footage becomes next year's best episode)
- Earn the bigger role: deliver through opening day, and this becomes the school's full in-house media wing — with you as its founding head
You must have
- 3+ years shooting and editing video end to end, alone — with published work to prove it
- A feel for vlog/documentary storytelling: you can find the narrative in an ordinary day
- YouTube fluency: retention, titles, thumbnails, pacing — you think in episodes, not clips
- Fast, AI-assisted editing workflow — weekly output is non-negotiable
- Absolute discretion. You will hear sensitive business, financial, and personnel conversations. What's publishable is decided together; what isn't, never leaves the room
- Comfort around children and full commitment to consent and safeguarding norms
- Based in Jaipur (or willing to relocate). On-site, full-time, often on the move
Good to have: stills photography, Hindi–English bilingual editing, drone work, experience as someone's first or only creative hire.
Who this is for: someone who wants a front-row seat to an institution being born, and who backs their own work enough to treat a fixed-term start as an audition for founding a media wing — not someone looking for another client project.
