Role Description The Fettling Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all fettling operations, including cleaning, trimming, grinding, and finishing of cast components to meet required specifications. This full-time, on-site role in Sanand involves planning daily workloads, assigning tasks to fettling operators, and monitoring productivity and quality at each stage. The supervisor ensures compliance with safety standards, proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment, and adherence to quality inspection procedures. The role includes coordinating with production and quality teams to resolve defects, optimizing processes to reduce rework and scrap, training team members on best practices, and maintaining accurate records of output, issues, and improvements.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of fettling processes, sand casting methods, and ferrous metal finishing techniques.
- Experience supervising shop-floor teams, including task allocation, performance monitoring, and on-the-job training.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, dimensional requirements, and quality specifications.
- Familiarity with grinding tools, cutting equipment, safety gear, and standard operating procedures.
- Commitment to workplace safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement in production processes.
- Monitor productivity and minimize rework and excessive grinding.
- Coordinate with Quality and Dispatch teams for inspection and timely movement of finished castings.
- Ensure proper segregation of accepted, rework, and rejected castings.
- Good communication and coordination skills for working with production, quality, and maintenance teams.
- Prior experience in a casting foundry or metal manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
- Diploma, ITI, or equivalent technical qualification in mechanical, foundry, or related trade is an advantage.
