Orikai is a contemporary Indian kidswear brand creating modern heirlooms for childhood.
Inspired by nostalgia, heritage and timeless dressing, we bring together thoughtful design, beautiful fabrics and elevated tailoring to create pieces that feel special today and worth remembering tomorrow.
We design for children aged 2–12 years, with a point of view rooted in modern old-money aesthetics, timeless silhouettes and playful childhood charm.
We’re looking for a Fashion Designer to join our team full-time and become an integral part of building Orikai’s collections.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new collections and individual styles for girls and boys aged 2–12
- Research global fashion, childrens wear, fabrics, silhouettes, colours and emerging trends
- Create moodboards, design concepts, sketches and detailed design sheets
- Develop prints, trims, embellishments, colour stories and fabric combinations
- Source and experiment with fabrics, trims and materials
- Create detailed tech packs and communicate construction details clearly
- Work closely with the pattern master and factory
- Identify and correct fit, construction and finishing issues
- Develop multiple iterations of a design until the final product meets our standards
- Maintain collection calendars and ensure designs move from concept to production on schedule
- Check quality of the final production and get changes done
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience in fashion design, preferably children wear or premium/lifestyle fashion
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, silhouettes and fits
- Excellent fashion illustration and design development skills
- Strong understanding of colours, proportions and styling
- Ability to create clear and detailed tech packs
- Comfortable working directly with sampling masters, pattern makers and production teams
- Strong attention to detail
- Someone who is highly organised and can manage multiple styles simultaneously
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
