About the RoleWe are a premier handmade carpet manufacturer looking for a highly vigilant, numbers-driven Factory Accountant / Plant Controller to join our team in Panipat. Unlike a traditional desk accountant who only manages bookkeeping, this role involves finance and production. You will be directly responsible for tightening operational leakages, managing our artisan piece-rate payroll, and ensuring that our raw materials are utilized with zero wastage.
The role requires an understanding of a manufacturing floor, Target to achieve a direct impact on the company’s bottom line. This role offers a rewarding incentive structure tied to your savings and accuracy targets.
Key Responsibilities1. Piece-Rate Wage Management & Payouts
- Maintain accurate daily/weekly logs of work completed by handmade carpet weavers and artisans.
- Calculate precise piece-rate wages based on verified output metrics (e.g., square footage, number of pieces made, or design complexity).
- Oversee and execute timely disbursements of payments to piece-rate workers, minimizing discrepancies.
2. Tight Inventory Control & Material Reconciliation
- Enforce a strict "No Issue Without Plan" policy, ensuring raw materials (yarn, dyes, backing cloth and packaging materials) are released to the production floor only as per the approved production plan.
- Monitor the consumption of high-value raw materials and flag any excess usage or variance from standard recipe/design specifications.
- Track packaging material consumption and ensure it strictly aligns with pre-defined packaging standards per carpet size/type.
3. Cost Control & Overhead Management
- Analyze and control factory overhead costs (staff deployment, utilities, maintenance, consumables, logistical expenses).
- Conduct regular cost-variance analysis (Actual vs. Budgeted) and present actionable insights to the management to reduce costs.
4. Audit & Reporting
- Conduct physical verification of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods periodically.
- Prepare weekly and monthly cost sheets, wastage reports, and wage analysis dashboards.
Required Qualifications & Skills- Education: B.Com, M.Com, Inter-CA, Inter-ICWA, or MBA in Finance.
- Experience: 3 to 7 years of core accounting experience in a manufacturing plant or factory setup (experience in textiles, handlooms, or carpet manufacturing is an advantage).
- Software Skills: Strong proficiency in XL, Tally or relevant ERP software.
- Local Knowledge: Comfort managing ground-level factory workers and understanding the local labor dynamics of the Panipat industrial area.
- Traits: High integrity, assertive communication (to enforce material rules on the shop floor), and a strong eye for detail.
