chievers.Role Description The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and safety of the school premises in Siliguri. This full-time, on-site role includes supervising custodial and maintenance staff, coordinating repairs, managing vendors, and ensuring classrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces are clean, secure, and well-maintained. The Facilities Manager monitors building systems such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and security, and ensures compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements. The role also involves planning and supporting school events from a facilities perspective, managing inventory of supplies and equipment, and preparing regular reports on facility status, budgets, and improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or property management in an institutional or educational setting.
- Knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC), safety standards, and regulatory compliance for schools or similar environments.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate maintenance and custodial staff, as well as manage external vendors and contractors effectively.
- Proficiency in using basic computer applications and facility management tools for scheduling, reporting, and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with school leadership, staff, students, and service providers.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and a focus on safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
- Relevant diploma or degree in facilities management, engineering, or a related field; equivalent work experience may also be considered.
- Willingness to be on-site in Siliguri and available for occasional after-hours or weekend work as required by school operations.
