Role Overview
We are seeking an Expert Scientific Writer to join our publication and medical communications team. You’ll play a pivotal role in crafting accurate, impactful, and regulatory-compliant content for our diverse portfolio of clients and publication channels. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with scientific leaders, support the development of high-quality, complex manuscripts across broad therapeutic areas, and contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge across these areas.
As part of SciVoc’s dynamic team, you will:
- Handle complex and highly complex projects, write and review simultaneously and seamlessly across broad TAs.
- Have excellent writing and scientific acumen and understanding to translate complex ideas into comprehensible solutions.
- Ability to mentor junior/associate writers, review their work for quality, and manage workload.
- Lead the development, writing, and editing of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters, presentations, and other communication deliverables for peer-reviewed journals, medical conferences, and client needs
- Collaborate with scientists, clinicians, and internal team members to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences
- Ability to work without supervision and with a focus on the quality and timeliness of outputs
- Conduct literature reviews, data analysis, and background research to support content accuracy and project direction
- Ensure all deliverables adhere to current publication, regulatory, and ethical standards
- Contribute to publication planning and strategic communication initiatives
- Comfortable working different time shifts in UK/EU/EST/APAC time zones.
Skills Required:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in a life sciences, health sciences, pharmacy, or medical field
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in medical communications and publications, including authoring scientific manuscripts and presentations
- Excellent scientific writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, synthesize, and clearly communicate complex clinical or scientific data
- Proven track record in publication planning, medical writing for peer-reviewed journals, conference abstracts, and slide decks
- In-depth knowledge of publication and industry guidelines (e.g., ICMJE, GPP, CONSORT, AMA style guide)
- Proficiency with literature search techniques, referencing software, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
- Strong project management, time management, and organizational abilities to meet tight deadlines
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in cross-functional and client-facing teams
- Familiarity with a range of therapeutic areas and the ability to rapidly learn new scientific domains
- Preferred candidate to have ISMPP certification
- The candidate should have at least 10-15 acknowledged manuscripts in national and international scientific journals
