About the Role
We run a high-accuracy, human-driven English transcription operation. Reviewers
listen to audio and manually transcribe and review content from scratch, delivering
clean, accurate, client-ready transcripts while following strict quality and formatting
standards.
The role requires strong listening skills, excellent English proficiency, attention to
detail, and strict adherence to client-specific style guidelines.
What You'll Do
• Manual Transcription: Listen carefully to audio and manually transcribe spoken
content accurately.
• Proofread and Review: Thoroughly review transcripts for accuracy, grammar,
punctuation, spelling, formatting, and completeness.
• Follow Style Guidelines: Apply clean-verbatim rules, speaker labeling,
timestamps, speech tags such as inaudible and crosstalk, and other client-specific
requirements.
• Research Names and Terms: Verify unfamiliar names, terminology, locations, and
other references to ensure transcription accuracy.
• Maintain Quality Standards: Deliver accurate, consistent, and client-ready
transcripts while meeting defined quality and turnaround expectations.
• Handle Difficult Audio: Work with varied English accents, multiple speakers,
crosstalk, unclear speech, and low-quality audio.
• Adapt to Different Domains: Quickly understand new subject areas and clientspecific style guides, including US and Commonwealth English requirements.
Must Have
• Excellent Command of English: Strong grammar, punctuation, spelling, and
reading comprehension, with a sharp ear for difficult audio.
• Manual Transcription Experience: Hands-on experience manually transcribing
audio, with strong familiarity with transcription practices.
• Proofreading Experience: Ability to carefully identify and correct errors in
transcripts while maintaining the intended meaning and spoken content.
• Strong Attention to Detail: Ability to identify even minor transcription, grammar,
punctuation, spelling, and formatting errors.
• Understanding of Clean-Verbatim Transcription: Familiarity with speaker labels,
timestamps, speech tags, and other transcription conventions.
• Accuracy-Focused: Comfortable working toward strict quality and accuracy
standards.
• Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn and follow new subject areas, client
requirements, and style guides.
Nice to Have
• Experience with TranscribeMe, Rev, GoTranscript, Verbit, or similar transcription
platforms as a manual transcriber or reviewer.
• Exposure to US legal or court transcription conventions, including verbatim vs.
non-verbatim transcription, speaker labels, bracketed notation, and
numeral/formatting rules.
• Experience handling US, UK, Australian, and Indian English accents.
• Experience working with low-quality or difficult audio files.
• Previous experience in manual transcription, transcription review, proofreading,
editing, or quality control.
